Chelsea have agreed to a transfer with Southampton worth up to $73.7 million for Romeo Lavia.
Liverpool had previously had a $76.2 million offer for Lavia accepted by Southampton but the player expressed a desire to join Chelsea.
Liverpool previously lost out on Moises Caicedo after he also wanted a transfer to Chelsea instead of Liverpool.
Lavia only joined Southampton from Manchester City last summer, making 29 Premier League appearances.
