City Accounted For 44 Percent Of Premier League\'s January Spend
Manchester City had a busy January transfer window in signing Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov, Nico Gonzalez and Vitor Reis to a combined cost of £178 million ($223 million), which ranks only behind Chelsea in 2023 when they signed Enzo Fernandez, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and more for £270 million.
The only other club to spent even more than £100 million was in 2018 when Barcelona signed Philippe Coutinho.
Their spending roughly accounted for 44 percent of all incoming business across English football’s 20-team top flight, with Wolverhampton Wanderers, whose recruitment was motivated by their wish to avoid relegation, a distant second with £42 million spent.
