Joshua Kimmich, Bayern Extension Has Unexpectedly Become Complicated

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Mar 3, 2025 6:46 pm

Joshua Kimmich and Bayern Munich were expected to agree to a contract extension and previously agreed to a three-year deal in principle. But Kimmich delayed actually signing it and Bayern pulled the offer he failed to meet their deadline to sign the deal.

“At some point (Kimmich) has to make a statement,” Lothar Matthaus told Sky Sport’s Sky90 programme over the weekend.

“He has been involved in international football for a long time. He knows what he has at Bayern Munich, he has been able to examine his offers. At some point, Bayern Munich need to make a decision in order to be able to plan for the future.”

If Kimmich were to leave Bayern, he would likely be pursued by Arsenal, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

Kimmich considers himself a midfielder and moved back to the No. 6 role this season by Vincent Company after Thomas Tuchel used him as a full-back.

Kimmich earns more than €350,000 (£289,000; $366,000) per week and would renew on similar terms.
