Liverpool Considering Frimpong, Dumfries, Aina At Right-Back

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon May 5, 2025 9:04 pm

Liverpool are confident they can attract and retain elite talent despite facing the challenge of replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold amid his announcement leaving the club with his move to Real Madrid expected, sources told ESPN.

The 25-year-old right-back\'s potential departure would leave a significant void in Liverpool\'s squad. Alexander-Arnold has contributed 64 Premier League assists during his time at Anfield—more than any defender in the competition\'s history—often serving as the team\'s creative fulcrum under former manager Jurgen Klopp.

Arne Slot may opt to bolster his midfield ranks rather than seeking a direct replacement at right-back, potentially changing Liverpool\'s tactical approach in response.

Liverpool have already demonstrated their ability to retain top talent, recently securing new contracts with veteran superstars Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

In 21-year-old Northern Ireland international Conor Bradley, Liverpool appear to have a promising successor who impressed when deputizing for the injured Alexander-Arnold last season. Bradley notably contained Kylian Mbappé during Liverpool\'s 2-0 win over Real Madrid in November.

However, with Bradley having made only 27 top-flight appearances to date, Liverpool will likely explore the transfer market for experienced competition.

Potential Targets

Bayer Leverkusen\'s Jeremie Frimpong has emerged as a potential option, though he typically operates as a wing-back under Xabi Alonso\'s system. Inter Milan\'s Denzel Dumfries and Nottingham Forest\'s Ola Aina have also been linked with moves to Anfield.
