Carlo Ancelotti Announced As Next Manager Of Brazil
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced Monday that Carlo Ancelotti will become the first foreign coach in Brazil\'s national team history, taking over on May 26, 2025, after concluding his tenure at Real Madrid.
According to sources from ESPN Brasil, Ancelotti will receive approximately €177,500 ($197,000) per week, more than double the salary of his predecessors. He could also earn a €5 million bonus if Brazil wins the 2026 World Cup.
\"Bringing Carlo Ancelotti to lead Brazil is more than a strategic move,\" said Ednaldo Rodrigues, CBF president. \"It\'s a statement to the world that we are determined to regain the top spot on the podium. He is the greatest coach in history and now he is in charge of the greatest national team on the planet.\"
The announcement comes during a challenging period for Ancelotti at Madrid, following their Champions League quarterfinal elimination, Copa del Rey final defeat to Barcelona, and Sunday\'s LaLiga Clásico loss that effectively ended their title hopes.
Succession Plan Taking Shape
Sources told ESPN that Xabi Alonso is close to finalizing a deal to replace Ancelotti at Real Madrid. Alonso, who played for Madrid between 2009 and 2014, recently announced his departure from Bayer Leverkusen.
The CBF thanked Real Madrid and president Florentino Pérez \"for the cordiality and sportsmanship shown in facilitating the coach\'s release during his contract term,\" and acknowledged Brazilian businessman Diego Fernandes for leading negotiations.
