Barca Target Defender, Full-Back, Winger for Summer Transfer Window

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed May 14, 2025 2:31 pm

Barcelona are prioritizing the acquisition of a central defender, a full-back and a left winger this summer as they aim to strengthen their squad for next season\'s Champions League campaign, sources confirmed to ESPN.

The Catalan giants need just two points from their remaining matches to secure the LaLiga title and complete a domestic treble. However, their European ambitions were halted after a semifinal defeat to Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Financial restrictions continue to create uncertainty around Barcelona\'s transfer activities. Sources indicate several players are expected to depart to create room for new signings, with sporting director Deco preparing multiple contingency plans for each position based on available funds.

Potential Transfer Targets

No firm candidates have been identified yet, but previous targets including Manchester United\'s Marcus Rashford, Athletic Club\'s Nico Williams, and Liverpool\'s Luis Díaz remain under consideration. Deco specifically acknowledged to ESPN the need for additional attacking options due to the team\'s increasing reliance on Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

Barcelona had previously engaged in talks with Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah, whose contract expires next month. Those discussions have slowed recently, with Bayern Munich now expected to secure the German international\'s signature.

Despite having several center-back options in Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martínez, Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen and Eric Garcia, sources reveal Barcelona anticipate departures in this position, necessitating reinforcement. The full-back positions, currently held by Jules Koundé and Alejandro Balde, lack sufficient depth according to club assessment.

Barcelona will intensify their transfer planning once they officially claim the LaLiga title, potentially as early as Wednesday if Real Madrid drop points against Mallorca, or on Thursday should Barcelona defeat city rivals Espanyol.
