Luka Modric Announces He\'s Leaving Real Madrid After Club World Cup
Luka Modric has announced he will leave Real Madrid after the Club World Cup with his final home match coming on Saturday against Real Sociedad. Modric joined Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012 for a £30 million transfer, becoming a key part of their midfield over the next decade.
While with Madrid, Modric won the Champions League six times and LaLiga four times. Modric also won the Ballon d\'Or in 2018 as he helped lead Croatia to the World Cup Final while also winning the Champions League with Madrid that season.
Modric will turn 40 in September and remained a contributing player for Madrid despite a decrease in his playing time. Madrid previously lost Toni Kroos to retirement last summer and the club will need to overhaul their midfield.
