Michael Bradley has been named manager of New York Red Bulls II. Bradley began his paying career in 2004 for New York/New Jersey MetroStars, which were rebranded as the Red Bulls two years later.

Previous head coach Ibrahim Sekagya was promoted to an assistant with the first team on Tuesday.

“I couldn’t be more excited to come back to where my professional playing career began,” Bradley said in a club statement. “This is a dream opportunity as a young coach. I’m looking forward to working everyday with this talented group of players, and I’ll give everything to help them take the next step in their careers. I’m thankful to the club for the opportunity and can’t wait to get started.”

Bradley amassed 151 caps, the third-most of any player in USMNT history. Bradley played in two World Cups, captaining the team for much of the back half of his playing career.
