Paris Saint-Germain rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 on penalties Wednesday, claiming the UEFA Super Cup after a dramatic 2-2 draw in regulation time.

Nuno Mendes converted the decisive penalty kick to secure PSG\'s fifth trophy of 2025. The French champions overcame goals from Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero through late strikes by Lee Kang-in and Gonçalo Ramos.

Tottenham dominated the match for 75 minutes under new manager Thomas Frank. Van de Ven opened the scoring from a set piece before Romero doubled the advantage early in the second half with a header that slipped through PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier\'s hands.

\"Very, very proud of the players, the team, the club, the fans,\" Frank said. \"I think for 75 to 80 minutes we were perfect, almost giving nothing away.\"

Lee pulled one back for PSG with five minutes remaining, arrowing his shot into the bottom corner. Ramos completed the comeback by heading home Ousmane Dembélé\'s cross in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

The penalty shootout initially favored Tottenham when PSG\'s Vitinha missed the opening kick. However, Van de Ven and Mathys Tel both failed to convert for Spurs, allowing PSG to capitalize and claim victory.

Frank praised his team\'s tactical approach despite the defeat. The Danish manager deployed a back three formation and emphasized set pieces, which proved effective for both Tottenham goals.

\"It was a special operation,\" Frank said. \"In medical terms the operation succeeded but the patient died, so not that good in the end.\"

PSG manager Luis Enrique praised debutant goalkeeper Chevalier, who replaced the reportedly outbound Gianluigi Donnarumma despite conceding Romero\'s goal.

\"He\'s shown personality and we want him to integrate with the team immediately,\" Enrique said.

Enrique conceded that PSG was fortunate to win the match.

\"For 80 minutes we didn\'t deserve that, I think Tottenham deserved to win the match because they were in form, they were training for six weeks and they played a great match,\" Luis Enrique told TNT Sports.

\"We have been training only for six days but sometimes football is unfair. I have to say we were very lucky in the last 10 minutes that we could score two goals.\"
