Ruben Amorim: \'Change the Man\' If United Wants Different Philosophy
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim delivered a defiant response to critics calling for tactical changes following Sunday\'s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, declaring the club must \"change the man\" if they lose faith in his 3-4-3 philosophy.
The loss marked United\'s third defeat of the season and extended Amorim\'s struggling record to just eight wins in 31 Premier League games since replacing Erik ten Hag last November. Pep Guardiola\'s City ended their two-game losing streak with a dominant performance against their neighbors at the Etihad Stadium.
Despite mounting pressure and questions about his tactical approach, Amorim remained steadfast in his commitment to the formation he has employed since arriving at Old Trafford.
\"I won\'t change my philosophy. If they [United hierarchy] want it changed, you change the man,\" Amorim told reporters.
\"I am not going to change my philosophy. I will play my way until I want to change. Guys, I understand [the questions] and I accept it is not a record you should have at Man United.\"
The Portuguese manager acknowledged supporters\' growing concerns while insisting the team is making progress despite poor results. He emphasized his personal investment in turning around United\'s fortunes.
\"My message is I will do everything. I will give everything. It is not my decision, the rest. I will do my best. I am suffering more than [the fans],\" Amorim said.
United face Chelsea at Old Trafford next Saturday as pressure continues to mount on the former Sporting CP coach. Amorim defended his players\' effort while taking responsibility for the team\'s tactical shortcomings.
\"I didn\'t see one player in my team not giving the maximum. The rest is with me. It\'s my fault, not their fault and I am fine with that,\" he concluded.
