Ruben Amorim Maintains United Board Support Despite Poor Start

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim confirmed he retains backing from the club\'s hierarchy following crisis talks with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe on Thursday. The meeting came after United\'s worst Premier League start since 1992-93.

Amorim met with Ratcliffe, CEO Omar Berrada, and director of football Jason Wilcox at United\'s Carrington training centre. The Portuguese coach addressed speculation about his position ahead of Saturday\'s crucial clash against Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The summit followed United\'s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City last weekend, which intensified pressure on Amorim\'s leadership. United currently sits in the bottom half of the Premier League table after their disappointing start to the season.

When asked about his discussion with Ratcliffe, Amorim adopted a lighthearted tone about the meeting\'s content.

\"New contract, he was offering me a new contract!\" said Amorim. \"No, it was normal things. To show his support, explaining that it is a long project. He said many times this is my first season.\"

The manager emphasized the routine nature of the discussions while acknowledging increased scrutiny during United\'s difficult period.

\"So a normal meeting and we had several. But in this moment, it\'s normal that people pay attention to that,\" added Amorim.

Amorim received positive injury news with Mason Mount and Matheus Cunha declared fit for the Chelsea fixture. Both players missed the City defeat but have been cleared to feature against Enzo Maresca\'s side.

Chelsea seeks their first league victory at Old Trafford in over 12 years. The London club arrives following a 3-1 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich in midweek.

Amorim acknowledged the intense pressure surrounding his position while defending United\'s recent performances.

\"This is football and this is maybe the club with the most pressure in the world. We want to win,\" said Amorim. \"I think we are playing well until the boxes -- defending and attacking. We need to be more aggressive in the boxes and be more clinical.\"
