1) Dero is done. Hopefully he never sees the field again.
2) I did not really notice Jackson. I will not challenge other people who think he is bad though.
3) Bradley is pretty bad at set pieces. A lot of his crosses hit the first defender or did not amount to anything. I hope we have other options.

Why does Dero look done? Could it simply be because of the terrible pitch.

As for Bradley, I thought most of his crosses worked well, though I do remember one or two hitting the defenders near by. I still think he's our best option though.

The Dero signing was the worst decision made this season. $200K for a guy at the tail end of his career coming off his most significant injury. That money should have been used elsewhere and I think everyone would agree if it wasn't Dero.

However, it is Dero, and I can only assume the marketing/right the wrong aspect was a strong contributor to this decision on the top level.

rey was good I think , and i've watched the team twice now but after beating the initial defender or two or holds onto the ball too long and goes out of control. He's important to the teams build up though.

I think he'll also factor in a lot more when it comes to the Canadian Championship. Give Defoe a rest for a game maybe if we can manage it correctly.

It’s a Bloody Record Audience

TSN’s broadcast of Toronto FC’s home opener on Saturday was a record-breaker, as overnight data from BBM Canada confirms that TFC’s 1-0 win over DC United attracted a record average audience of 352,000 viewers, making it the most-watched MLS game ever on English television in Canada.*

The previous high for an MLS audience on Canadian English-language television was for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s only playoff appearance in 2012 (average audience of 335,000).

Audiences for the home opener were up 18% compared to the TFC season opener last week in Seattle (299,000 on TSN).

Audience is growing! Especially considering 20,000 fans or so were at the game.

Agree. Only two games into the season - both in terrible environments (pitch, fake grass, etc). He does look a step slow - but you can tell once the chemistry gets going (him, bradley, osrio, defoe and gilberto) I see him as a very useful link between mid and forward (his passing, touch and vision would compensate for his lack of pace). I would love if they start a very central passing formation of bradley, osorio, rey, defoe and gilberto - similar to a old school carlo ancellotti day ac milan formation.

Today in my office during the sr. management meeting we talked about Toronto FC before it started. There's a general awareness and interest in the team that surprises me. I've never heard anyone talk about football before in there.

I think the team is the "It" team this summer. I'm already taking a client to a game later this summer.

Bradley I think played amazing at the Home Opener. Midfield is suppose to set up strikers, and I feel he did that pretty well. Comparing MLS midfield, he was probably at Beckham level that day.

Won't disagree - the pitch and lack of match fitness have likely contributed to his play, though I just can't see any possibilities of him living up to the 200K price tag.

On another note, Brek Shea to TFC?

Don't think that would happen? Stoke City sent him out on loan recently but got sent back due to some altercation with a fan. Most likely since he'll be languishing at Stoke is he'll probably get loaned out to another championship league side.

would love him replace jackson on the wing tho

Reports were that he had two MLS sides on his list if loaned back to NA, with Toronto as one of them. FCD is not the other. But it seems there may not be interest on TFC's end.

I think Shea's disastrous tour of England is close to coming to an end. He's gotten himself in too much trouble off the field and has shown nothing on it.

Nelsen confirmed today that Issey is still the target so I guess we can take him for his word on that.

He is a decent option for this league. He is probably a better option than the Canadian we are close to signing but I am not sure how we would be able to get Shea to and fit him into the cap. That is probably one reason he is not getting much interest from management,

RSL is going to be tough to beat hoping for at least a draw.

I don't have time to bump this thread later, so just a reminder that TSN2 has a double header of MLS soccer on tonight which includes TFC's game at 9:30pm

looks like Jackson has played his way on to the bench. Deservedly so. Line-up looks solid though.

EDIT: Nvm this is just a projected lineup

Jackson has been suspended for the game by MLS for throwing an elbow in the last one.
