Major League Soccer is coming to Vancouver, reports TEAM 1040.

According to the radio station, sources have informed them that MLS officials will be in the city next week to officially award the expansion franchise.

The team will begin play in 2011.

In addition, there is one more expansion team to be awarded and three cities are still in the hunt: Portland, St. Louis and Ottawa.

Other sources told TEAM 1040 that Portland has the inside track, but must have stronger financial backing in place before MLS will award them a franchise. The announcement on the second expansion team is not expected until later in March.

Now with Vancouver in I wonder how long until Montreal decides they are ready.

Portland, Seattle and Vancouver will make for some crazy matches on the west coast.

That's awesome news. Why did MTL back out again? I heard it was something to do with Saputo Stadium or something?

Stadium was fine, they just didn't like the franchise fee of 40 Million during these tough times. I can understand why they backed out, but I know if they didn't we would be getting two new Canadian MLS franchises instead of one.

TV schedule has now been released.

It looks like the CBC will have 11 games, Sportsnet will have 2 or 3 and the new GolTV will have thew rest.

I understand ratings are bad, but I wonder why the Score decided to not pick up any games. I also wonder with 13,000 people on a waiting list for season tickets why the TV ratings have been so bad.

I'm hoping in 2011 all of TFC and Vancouver's games are available across Canada.

GolTV is on free preview till mid summer. So we'll get to see those games for free for a while. Great news. Can't wait for Sat.

It's free for now? Awesome!

Edit: Just went and checked and I don't think it's available in my area.

Seattle looks like an alright team.

Sell out crowd of 30,000 screaming fans makes the game exciting. I hope that passion will last.

TFC had to wait a lot longer for their first goal...

Just watchd highlights of their first match, I'm glad they decided to reduce the size of Qwest, it looked like a small atmosphere rather than a huge cavern. KC and some other teams look like they play in stadiums that are 20% occupied at most. Seattle deserved this, they've had a horrible, horrible year in terms of sport. This got me even more pumped for TFC's opener.

Toronto FC are currrently up 2-1 on KC. I did not like when the games were on The Score so I am happy to hear no games will be on that channel. GolTV has not learned yet that you do not show players bios during the game. I missed the set up for the 2nd goal.

Great game. We got an explosive offense. We could use a playmaker in mid and a solid central defender but I love the rest the team. GOL TV has to stop cutting to player profiles and replays while the game is going on. They actually missed the second goal.

Great opener!

Other than that, he was great. Commands so much attention it just opens things out for Barret. Barret needs to start putting balls in the back of the net!

I still do not know how he messed up that breakaway so badly.

It almost looked like he wanted to shoot the ball but decided against it at the end. Unless you have magical feet, you blast that ball low and away. He was too close, the goalie had absolutely no time to get down if that ball was blasted low.

Great start. Improvements are needed, but the win is something to build on. Especially since the score could have been 5-2.

It really could have been 6-0. Barret missed two gimmes, you get those 95% of the time. Deros missing a PK.

their two goals on the other hand, will not go in if the same thing happened 99 more times. Two rockets. One took 3 different deflections, the other one was just hit just as good as you could hit it for it to go in.

Other than those two defensive lapses, where the defense should have closed down on the ball, they were solid back there. The mid is strong, could use another playmaker. the front line is just lethal. Im expecting alot after that performance.

Fantastic start to the season that has given me a lot of hope that this team has turned the corner.

Winning on the road has been a very hard thing for TFC to do so I hope they can continue to build on this momentum.

We have only won 5 road games in our history. This was a big win for our guys.

De Ro has a habit of cutting it close on his PK's so the miss wasn't that surprising actually. I hope our players are working on their PK's.

lol at Jason De Vois (sp?) after the first goal:
"You are never going to see him score a goal like that again."
10 minutes later, same type of goal. Good call!
