Though my guess is next season Rogers will be our kit sponsor. Or possibly Kia

Not sure about Rogers being such a visible sponsor since TSN owns National rights for the MLS until 2016. However, Rogers does sponsor Toronto FC in some capacity, so that likely means TFC can't work with Bell either.

I think it will either be KIA (they hold the naming rights to the training facility and do a lot of work with TFC) or Canadian Tire with their SprothChek brand that has latched onto the Raptors and may see similar demographics in play. (Canadian Tire owns Sportchek, and also Mark's Work Warehouse which is another TFC sponsor),

You could be right. I was guessing Rogers or Bell because they own 50% of the team, but most likely they will want to see that revenue come from an outside source.

Maybe another bank is possible? TD green would look awful on red kits though.

Not the first time I've heard TD Bank. We can also throw in CIBC as they sponsor a ton of Soccer related events and activities. But I think I read BMO is still staying on in some capacity (and it's till BMO field) so that may be out. I just hope we don't roll into the season with a blank jersey. I hate empty soccer jerseys.

By the way, what do you think of the Gerrard to MLS rumours? TFC a destination? We do need a midfielder, especially if we can open up a DP spot by selling Defoe.

Here is a link to Toronto FC's official partners: http://www.torontofc.ca/content/partners

Looking at the list the most likely to step up to be kit sponsors who also have the money to do so in my opinion are

Kia
Sportschek
Cisco
Tim Hortons
Purolator

Also an off the wall choice, but with so many websites now as kit sponsors, I could also see Shop.ca on ours.

As for Gerrard, I don't see him coming here. First we would have to drop a DP which may not even happen and at the same time we have to look like a more attractive option than L.A. or New York.

If he lands in MLS he'll want to be in a major market where he has a chance at the cup.

Or I could be completely off base, lots of rumours flying tonight.

Enough with the pipe dreams, TFC isn't getting Gerrard. This team needs Defoe. The Leicester deal isn't final as of yet, so I'm hoping they can't come up with the money. IMO Defoe is back next year. TFC isn't giving him away for free. QPR saw that and backed away, so I predict Leicester will do the same.

I would argue that this team doesn't need Defoe as bad as they need a playmaker in the middle. 1 of Gilberto or Defoe is gone next year (they can't play together), so there is motivation for TFC to get things done if possible to help bring in a solid 10 in the middle of the pitch.

Normally where there's smoke, there's fire.

We are going to see a lot of rumours over the next few weeks and I think by the end of it Defoe will be back in England. He never really enjoyed his time in Toronto it seemed.

Looks like he'll end up in L.A.

Toronto will still likely look for a big name though to sell tickets.

So that's Frank Lampard and Gerrard that go to LA and NY.

I get they're more attractive places to play in, but can we not blow teams out of the water?

In MLS you can only have 3 players paid above the salary cap, TFC already have 3.

Though Defoe may be gone in a couple of weeks.

So management should have prepared better? Maybe loan or get rid of one or two of the 3 and make a run at the above two players mentioned if that was possible?

When Defoe jets to England, who do you think will be available? Be tough to match Lampard and Gerrard in terms of big names i am guessing?

TFC management hasn't exactly shown they can make the right move.... Like ever.

I'm not sure who they will bring in if Defoe does end up back in England, but I do expect it to be a big name. They worry more about ticket sales over winning most of the time when it comes to these type of signings.

Toronto was a huge disappointment. They brought in Bradley, Defoe, and the keeper and still were not a player in the mls. Huge fail

If we don't make the playoffs this season, I don't see any fans coming back.

Most are not renewing at this point, they will have even less next year.

Though at the same time they are still expanding the stadium.

Are they trying to sign more names this season?

Would Samuel Eto'o be reaching too high for a name?

It's not a far reach at all, considering TFC has be linked to Eto'o in the past. This from just last year.

You can add Chelsea’s Samuel Eto’o to the list of players that Toronto FC is speaking to in the MLS club’s search to add two Designated Players for 2014, a high-ranking source with the club tells SI.com.

The Cameroonian Eto’o, 32, is on a one-year contract with Chelsea and could be obtained on a free transfer at the end of this European season. He has won three UEFA Champions League titles, two with Barcelona and one with Inter Milan.

Eto’o has had a good week, having scored two goals for Chelsea against Schalke on Wednesday in Champions League and one against West Brom on Saturday in the Premier League. He joins Tottenham’s Jermain Defoe and Genoa’s Alberto Gilardino as forwards who have been contacted by Toronto in their pursuit of upgrades for next season.

I don't get the MLS obsession of signing washed up players to big contracts. If anything it's bringing down the entire talent of the MLS down. Did any big signing help the MLS in the long term?

Each team is only allowed three, so it doesn't really bring down the entire talent level. Plus is helps with ticket sales, and the development of the younger players. Always a great learning tool to play beside a world class player.

The only Designated Player that truly helped the league as a whole though was Beckham. He put MLS into a higher level all over the world.
