It's a lose lose situation for the CSA. If they restart the game tomorrow morning Vancouver will be upset, if they call the game now Toronto will be upset.

Only one team will get what they want unless the storm passes quickly.

Well looking at the radar it's going to be a good hour at least before it passes.

From the looks of it outside I doubt they will continue tonight.

If the game is abandoned rules state the match must be restarted tomorrow. The weather sounds like it's going to be just as bad if not worse.

I have no idea what they are going to do when both teams play again on Saturday, plus Canada has a game at BMO Field as well.

They should just wait it out and then continue. The trailing edge of the storm is in Oakville, so it should be good to go in about 30 minutes. Now whether the pitch has sufficiently drained is another matter.

No way! We are playing terrible, and the pitch will only work against us. Lets get this game abandoned (rematch is back to 0 - 0 with a fresh 90 on the clock) and we will worry about the logistics after.

crazy 8 minutes in the NY - Colorado game... started off with a horrible decision from the ref to give the Rapids a pk after a foul that was clearly out of the box :nonono:

Sportsnet is now saying just the final 30 minutes will be replayed tomorrow with the score standing at 1-0.

****. I hate the CSA. I hope its Sportsnet who has no clue what they are talking about. CSA rules clearly state that the match has to be replayed in its entirety.

this same thing happened the first year of the nutrilite in montreal against toronto and they continued the game after a long break. it was really sloppy. either way i didnt watch tonight and after watching a good 90% of the first few seasons i havent watched a game since they traded de-ro. its not a deliberate thing, but most of the excitement is gone, the games are rarely on sportsnet or cbc anymore, and we still suck. tough to care enough to stream games like i used to.

Well this is straight from the rules of the competition:

12. If the match is abandoned before the completion of normal playing time because of extreme weather or for reasons outside the control of the host team, the match shall be replayed in its entirety the following day, thus avoiding the considerable extra expense for the visiting team.

Pretty clear the game should be replayed based on the rules.

and losing to vancouver in toronto, when tied in the series after a surprise tie out west. its just so TFC. its like the worst of all the toronto teams merged together. star players leave. players come here after being good, suck here, then are good again elsewhere. managements always talks about spending lots and winning, but it never quite works. theres disfunction everywhere. theyre perpetually looking for an identity. and as opposed to the other teams, i cant rail against them cause no one i know cares. except for the guy who writest he TFC articles for the sun, hes a friend of mine. but hes deep down a KC fan.

Confirmed. To be played tomorrow at 11 am in its entirety, depending on pitch conditions.

Vancouver must be so upset, hopefully that helps TFC.

I can't imagine having a goal just wiped away because of thunder and rain.

Could TFC put one in the back of their own net as a gesture of sportsmanship?

Could they? sure ... will they ... I really dont think so.

Rules are rules... to put one in the net would be essentially trying to wiff the rules. All that accomplishes it 89mins of regular play

Oh I know they won't, I just don't want to hear all the whining from Vancouver if TFC manages to win.

Canadian Championship second leg rescheduled for July 2

After the second leg of the Nutrilite Canadian Championship was abandoned on Wednesday night following lightning and a waterlogged pitch, the match has been rescheduled for Saturday, July 2, at BMO Field in Toronto. Kick off is set for 12:30 p.m. ET.

Toronto FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps will replay match in its entirety, which means the score will be reset to 0-0 despite Vancouver taking a 1-0 lead on Wednesday before the game was called with 30 minutes remaining in regulation.

“We’re disappointed, of course,” Vancouver head coach Teitur Thordarson said Wednesday's match. “The advantage that we had gotten this game doesn’t count, so that is obviously unfair. As far as the conditions, that is the referee’s decision and we have to respect that.”

The aggregate score will remain at 1-1, which was the result from the first leg played last week in Vancouver.

The rematch had originally been scheduled for 11 a.m. ET on Thursday morning, but the Canadian Soccer Association decided that the field conditions at BMO were still too poor to replay the match.

The eventual winner of the series will represent Canada in 2011/12 CONCACAF Champions League preliminary round.
