Rickets got hurt for the Galaxy, then their backup gets red carded so Mike Magee finished the game in goal lol

I watched the 2nd half. Impressive clean sheet, although Magee would kick the ball when he could have easily picked it up.

another week another TFC loss.

Pretty sad that the Canadian Championship will be between the two worst MLS teams this season and that one will make the Champions league.

Doesn't really seem fair, Haha.

No disrespect but TFC looks horrible. Just what RSL needed to finally put a few in the back of the net. If only we could get back to 100% health-wise.

Red Bulls deal De Rosario to DC for McCarty in stunner

The New York Red Bulls abruptly parted ways with veteran Dwayne De Rosario on Monday, dealing the five-time MLS Best XI selection to rivals D.C. United for midfielder Dax McCarty.

De Rosario was traded to New York from Toronto FC on April 1 to fill the Red Bulls’ missing playmaker role, but he failed to mirror the offensive numbers he’d amassed in years past for Houston and Toronto FC.

Although not necessarily relied upon for the same offensive output as in years past — Red Bulls striker Thierry Henry is tied for the league lead with eight goals and Luke Rodgers has five this season — De Rosario has struggled to make an impression on a team where he’s not the main attacking option.

He scored two goals and added four assists in 13 games through the Red Bulls’ 1-1 draw against Chicago on Sunday, mostly logging time in the team’s attacking midfielder role. He was dealt to New York after one of his best offensive seasons last year in Toronto, when he scored a career-high 15 goals and added three assists.

Did not see this coming, poor DeRo... I guess the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

US Open Cup 3rd round today! MLS teams finally in

FC New York (USL PRO) at New York Red Bulls (MLS)
Chicago Fire (MLS) at Rochester Rhinos (USL PRO)
Richmond Kickers (USL PRO) at Columbus Crew (MLS)
Wilmington Hammerheads (USL PRO) at Real Salt Lake (MLS)
Orlando City Soccer Club (USL PRO) at FC Dallas (MLS)
Chicago Fire PDL (PDL) at Sporting Kansas City (MLS)
Kitsap Pumas (PDL) at Seattle Sounders (MLS)
Los Angeles Blues (USL PRO) at Los Angeles Galaxy (MLS)

We'll see a lot of MLS teams use reserves squads for these games. Anybody think they will get upset? RSL has already said that winning this tournament is a top priority as it is the easiest way to get back to the CONCACAF Champions League

wow the De Rosario trade is pretty shocking. He wasn't scoring much but I definitely liked him in the attacking midfield role.

Are the U.S Open Cup games put together by location?

A few of those games look to be put together to help on travel costs for the USL.

Not exactly sure but the 2nd rounders did know who they were going to match up against if they won their game.

TFC unveil Frings, Koevermans as newest signings

After a less-than-stellar season to date, help appears to be on the horizon for Toronto FC.

Canada’s original Major League Soccer franchise unveiled veteran German World Cup midfielder Torsten Frings and former PSV Eindhoven striker Danny Koevermans as the club’s newest signings at a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

Both join midfielder Julian de Guzman as designated players, although it is unknown exactly how much both will earn. De Guzman currently earns $1.9-million (U.S.) for the 2011 season.

According to published reports, TFC beat both Glasgow Rangers and Leeds United to the punch in signing the 34-year-old Frings. His addition also throws doubt on de Guzman’s future with his hometown team, with both plying their trade as defensive midfielders – although the German has the versatility to play anywhere across the midfield - and de Guzman’s return on his highly-paid salary having proved middling at best. Signing a third DP would also put TFC on the hook for a $250,000 (U.S.) luxury tax, to be split among the other MLS teams without three DPs.

Capped 79 times by the German national team, Frings took part in the 2002 and 2006 World Cups, and played the entire 90 minutes when Germany lost to Brazil in the 2002 final. At club level, he won a Bundesliga crown in his one season with Bayern Munich back in 2004-05, but is best known for his two spells spanning 12 years at Werder Bremen.

Koevermans’s addition should provide relief for a frontline that has scored the second-fewest goals in the league thus far – just 16 in 18 games. Though he lacks the international calibre of Frings, Koevermans has played for the Netherlands on four occasions – scoring one goal – but the 32-year-old is known for his strike rate in the Dutch Eredivisie, where he scored 136 times in 253 games for PSV, AZ Alkmaar and Sparta Rotterdam.

Hey guys,

I just found out that you guys signed Torsten Frings. He played most of his career for my favorite club Werder Bremen and he's still a great player, true leader, multiple champion with Borussia Dortmund & Bayern Munich and he will be a huuuuuge step forward for Toronto FC. I will root for you! :)
