Philadelphia Union sign former Kaiserslautern forward Dzenan Catic, loan out defender Austin BerryThe Philadelphia Union moved one player and acquired another in two separate transactions on Monday.
The club announced it has loaned former MLS Rookie of the Year Austin Berry to South Korean second-division side FC Anyang. The 26-year-old, who was acquired by the Union before the start of the 2014 season, didn't feature for a single MLS minute after Jim Curtin took over the reins of the club in June 2014.
“We feel that this is the perfect level for Austin to continue his development,” Union technical director Chris Albright said in a club statement. “We wish him the best and look forward to him representing the club well.”
Shortly after, the Union also revealed they signed No. 31 overall draft pick Dzenan Catic after the forward showed well during preseason. The 22-year-old Bosnian native, who made his name as NAIA Player of the Year at Davenport University, is a former FC Kaiserslautern reserve team player.

Most MLS fans don't look at the Union as a legitimate threat this year. We are going to surprise people with one the most dynamic midfields in MLS. Expecting a huge year from Wenger, Maidana, Nogs, M'bolhi and one of the most underrated defenders in the league Ray Gaddis. The core of this team is fantastic we just lack depth. (Just like most teams in MLS)

Still waiting for that first solid performance. They look better on paper, but I have strong doubts about coaching and FO.

Last night, on the way home from work, I heard a Philadelphia Union show on local sports radio (AM 610 I think). It was called the 90th minute. I think it was actually produced by the Philadelphia Union, which was kinda lame. But it was still exciting to hear folks talking soccer on sports radio, especially after Sunday's game got bumped on Verizon Fios for some sort of auto racing.
