I think she should rest on defense and hunt for boards tbh. I put CC on the easiest match up on D.

If she wants to unlock another gear offensively she needs to work on off ball awareness, get stronger, and develop on the 2nd level like Sabrina did

People are caught up with the rookie craze but Ionescu has quietly established herself as an elite guard that can score at all 3 levels and facilitate

i agree that she should rest on defense. caitlin always starts the possession by defending the weakest offensive player on the other team, but the way the fever run their defense, they just switch everything and caitlin always ends up having to play defense anyway.

i agree that being able to score in the mid-range would be beneficial. honestly though.. if caitlin had the same weapons on offense as sabrina and had the opportunity to run an offense that has jonquel, stewie and betnijah though.. can you realistically guard a caitlin + stewie/jonquel pick and roll? the fever offense is already cooking with much lesser players

Not sure how much faith I have in Lin Dunn though.

So I haven’t watched really any wnba before Clark and really only watched her games so far, but it was surprising to me that she is surrounded by so few shooters and/or playmakers. Feels like her teammates are black holes with low assist rates and whenever they put the ball on the deck to the basket, they’re going up with it no matter what is happening or who is open. Then I got curious and searched the average salary for a wnba GM and google said it was like $110k a year, which is probably less than what some accountants make. Meanwhile, Morey for the sixers I think makes like more than $10 million a year. It did make me wonder if the fact that nba franchises have tons of staff and millions of dollars to throw at roster construction makes a difference. That said, I’m sure it’s also just that Indiana has been a bad team and needs time to get better players.

Me watching Trevor Lawrence his rookie year throwing to a receiving core of Marvin Jones, Laviska Shenault, and Laquon Treadwell (those were the actual top 3 in targets that year):
BaF Lakers:

Nikola Topic/Kasparas Jakucionis
VJ Edgecombe/Jrue Holiday
Shaedon Sharpe/Cedric Coward
Kyle Filipowski/Collin Murray-Boyles
Alex Sarr/Clint Capela

Bench: Malcolm Brogdon/Hansen Yang/Rocco Zikarsky/RJ Luis Jr.

I like some of the Fever players, but yeah, CC seems like one of the few who think about the team concept. The rest seem to be just thinking "Feed me the ball, Caitlin". It's part of her role as point guard, but seeing the whole team passing the ball around to create an opening doesn't seem to be a strong point for them.

I think it's less an issue of attitude than of ability. Reading the court is hard and making decisions is hard. AB is a very good player, but even she has struggled this season when fed the ball in a non-shooting situation. And of course, the other Fever players struggle even more.
