We have what she actually said.
And she said Clark wasn’t bothered by being used to promote racism and hate.
Except Clark never said that.
Again, we don’t have to give generous interpretations to grown adults capable of speaking for themselves. I think you guys call it “infantilizing” women around these parts, and it’s considered a major no-no when some posters do it for certain players.
It was overly harsh and inaccurate (what Dijonai said), but that still doesn’t take away the accuracy of my summary.
Being silent does imply you are complicit and ok with it. There is truth to that. People were and still are using her name to spread hatred. Stomp that **** out…and she did.
You can ignore it and call out how the world should be til you’re blue in the face. That’s not going to change how the world actually is. People are going to unfortunately pay attention to social media bologna and trash and vitriol. Too many people love drama and eat it up. It’s unfortunately here to stay. She shouldn’t have had to, but I’m glad Caitlin spoke up.
I don’t personally agree that people are complicit to things said in their name that they aren’t even aware of (would be different of course if these things were being said in front of Clark and she said nothing, rather than by nobodies on Twitter that she’s never engaged with), but I appreciate you being able to discuss it rationally and acknowledge what Carrington actually said.
And I agree about Clark flopping btw, just don’t remember Carrington publicly calling out Taurasi or Skylar or Aja etc. for it when, like you said, all the great players do it.
And like I said before, I’ve no problem with a little hate going Clark’s way either way. It’s part of the game as well.
I don’t get the impression that Carrington is much of a fan, nor should she be. She’s a competitor.
I think fair for the most part except for Clark living in some bubble unaware. Not buying that ignorance is bliss line. Good for her if she doesn’t pay attention to social media herself. But, her recent like of the Swift post shows…she is actually on it in some capacity.
Plus there’s no way in hell there aren’t family members, friends, former teammates,
someone important to her that didn’t/doesn’t see what was/is going on.
So no. Not buying that for a nano second she didn’t know.
Also, while Carrington may have been wrong in taking her words too far, I certainly do sympathize with many of the players in the league that have felt **** on, marginalized, unappreciated, hated on by some Clark “fans.” You can say “ignore it,” and internet people are nobodies, but damn, racism hurts. Misogyny and homophobia too.
See the video below. Unanimous MVP this season…won the award 3x. Whacked in the face this season.
No call.
No giant controversy.
No posters making threads like this one defending her honor calling out the big, bad WNBA players.
No social media outcry to be seen.
Look at the comments. Where are all the people calling out the thugs and the intentional attacks and whatever the Clark brigade gets up in arms about every time anything remotely physical occurs?
Crickets.
Why is that?
