i like rhinos, but i'm not sure if i like that as a team name or not

Yeah like outside of "Raptor" it gets icky.

The Toronto Allosaurs just doesn't hit right

You wouldn't be a fan of the Toronto Leiopleurodons?

Shame there's no regional dinosaur for Ontario like the Albertosaurus or the Edmontosaurus

I suppose it'd be called an Ontariosaurus, so Toronto Ontariosaurs?

Too wordy

I think they may have to go in a different direction, something that symbolizes Toronto. Kinda like the NHL has the Maple Leafs

Maybe The Toronto Six? The city is comprised of 6 municipalities.

All I really know about the city is that it has a huge Caribbean population (which is why it is on my bucket list).

I just hope it’s not a some singular noun like Magic, Fever, Heat, Sky, Jazz, Thunder. Never a fan of those.

Toronto Badgers?

Feisty little ****ers. Endangered in Ontario. A decent name that could also help with conservation awareness.

Unfortunately I think U. Wisconsin may have copyrights or some other protections.

What about Huskies?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto_Huskies

Foxes seems decent, geographically appropriate. Probably invites inappropriate comments though.

Is there any real reason Toronto couldn't start playing in 2025 along w/the SF/Oakland squad ?

Random guess - but there’s not enough talent for 2 new teams the same year?! I’m sure it has to do with financials, but if teams are cutting lottery picks then I would guess it would be difficult to field a 3 new teams. But then again they start the very next season.

I'm pretty sure that Wisconsin has the Bucky Badger logo legally protected, but that it does not and cannot protect the overall Badger nickname.

Cool!

The Valkyries did the same thing in their naming process by asking fans what they wanted with suggestions. A lot of joke names were proposed relating to San Franciscos high crime rate, drug use, and other things.

I remember seeing " Bay Area Bippers" referring to the amount of car break ins, and i wrote in "Frisco fennys" for the Fentanyl use in the city.

Upon further review, I do like them taking the historical Huskies name.

I don't hate the name. The branding looks pretty nice from what little I've seen so far. I hope they go with that faded purple-maroon and lavender.

I was all for them having Raptors affiliate branding like Tricerotops or Pterodactyls but I'm cool with them carving out their own identity seperate from the Raps too.

Oof, I do not like that logo. It looks like the top part of the Pacers logo. Tempo is fine, not great but not bad. But that logo...

Ugh.

Stupid singular noun name. Just like I railed against earlier in the thread.
