Can't defend if you're not on the court.

With the current roster ... 25 games? Elite scorers, but the team's upside is limited due to defensive weakness/poor fit. The Fever combines weak perimeter defenders with immobility and a lack of rim protection in the front court. So yes, a young team, should jell and continue to improve, but there's only so far a team can go while trading baskets.

On the bright side, the Fever has the money to sign 2 max-salary players, so if it can find the right players in free agency or as a sign-and-trade, it could truly contend.

If they could land Sonia Citron at #8, that would be huge. She's perfect for them.

Unlikely, as she's a great fit on any team. But it's a deep draft, so she could slip.

Depends who they sign.
If they could get Ogwumike or even Natasha Howard or even Gabbie Williams I think they could be a legit playoff team.
If not they probably will be slightly better than last season as CC and Boston get better and develop more chemistry, but defense will continue to be a big problem against better (and bigger) teams.

They should draft one of the Euros. Preferably Sivka.

Based on who will probably be available at that spot, I concur...either Sivka or Morrow for me, unless Chicago does something wild and crazy like taking Sivka at #3, if that happened then presumably either one of Citron or Paopao would be available at #8.

I think Sivka has the potential with additional development time and physical maturity to be a Leonie Fiebich type starter, and possibly even higher upside.

I also added Morrow because I think she will fall considerably in the draft because people are worried about her positionality & shooting, and while it is a valid concern players who have her combination of strength, rebounding, defensive activity, and motor do not grow on trees. I mean to put it in perspective, Phee is a 6'1 Power Forward and she seems to be doing alright lol. (I'm not comparing Phee and Morrow, I'm just saying it's possible to be successful and still be undersized at the position).

I think the Fever should go heavy on trying to recruit Janelle Salaun from France/Schio(Italy) in Free agency also.

Lots of European gals in the college game. WNBA isn't a big pay day so it is common for the girls to play in the European leagues in the off season.

On paper this team is frightening. That starting 5 is gonna take some time to gel but when it does, good lord.

Yes, obviously my earlier prediction of 25 games has been voided, given the Fever's signings. I would put them at 30 now. Perimeter defense remains a weakness, but the team otherwise should be excellent.

Of course my view is colored by the fact that Indy's new management adopted exactly my view from last year. :D Clark & Boston are untouchable, the #3 and #4 spots must be replaced, and the team needs more length and floor running. Check, check, check.

Adding Cunningham off the bench as well. The Fever should be considered a legit contender

It's refreshing to see a team work quickly to surround generational talent with veteran talent like this.

The prediction from theAthletic didn't age well.

4. Indiana will strike out in free agency
In a sense, the Fever are the league’s most attractive free-agent destination. They play in front of packed crowds every night and feature the best young player in the game (Caitlin Clark) as well as Aliyah Boston. However, that also means anyone who signs in Indiana will play a relatively limited role, particularly if Kelsey Mitchell returns. Free agents aren’t typically looking to be the third option (at best).
