I really didn't like anything about Carrington in Dallas. She was high usage on abysmal efficiency and seemed checked out on defense. I can see a player being frustrated in Dallas, but you can still try your best (Paige and Arike) and be professional whether it's working or not. Carrington just seemed completely disengaged.

With Minnesota so far, it's been completely different. She's bringing the defensive intensity and high motor, and playing aggressively but within herself offensively. Obviously coaching and culture make a difference, but it still bothers me to see a player react badly, even in a bad situation.
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Yesterday I was lying; today I'm telling the truth.

Yeah I agree and I love Dijonai, but I think as a veteran she should know better. Lead by example regardless of the situation.

In Minnesota that's the real Dijonai. I am sure when the dirt comes out about the Wings this offseason we'll find out why she checked out

I don't think it's a secret.

That Aces game where they had it won until Dijonai's horrible meltdown.
She was then benched (and then Dallas had some moderate success by their standards). A week later they traded NaLyssa away. Dijonai had some playing time, but she was clearly never a part of the long term plan after that point.

I predicted she'd be a stud in Minny, but it was obvious she didn't respect Koclanes.
It's understandable that she didn't respect Koclanes. He's a new coach, and might suck.

But no franchise can have a player making 80% of a max contract that openly hates the coach and is going to work against the team in protest.

I love Dijonai, but she can probably never be the 2nd or 3rd best player on a championship contender. Her meltdown showed that.
She needs to be the 5th-7th best player on a true contender with a strong culture.

At least for now, unless something changes.

As the 5th-7th best player on a true contender, she's amazing.
Not sure that commands near franchise player money.

Pretty much every great W player has had to deal with a bad coach at some point.

Showing the bad coach up and leaving your teammates in a lurch is not normally part of the playbook for all-time great players.

Good role players do that sometimes. The greats generally play through, and have the gravitas to replace the coach later.

DC is awesome, but doesn't have that gravitas. She needed to be traded into the great coach situation.
