we're hanging in there with defense and sky sloppiness
which is good because we don't seem to be getting what we want when we're running offense

Oh ****. Plum seems like she might be hurt pretty bad.
They went away to commercial and didn't show a replay but she's in a lot of pain grabbing around the ankle.

Whew. Taping the ankle up now so hopefully just a rolled ankle.
It was non-contact so I was afraid of the worst.

Well, they might be worth that if they were sold. Most likely their value is based on future potential. But for the league as a whole hasn't been making a profit, so really isn't any profits to spread around. Maybe the LIberty are profitable, wouldn't surprise me, maybe some teams are, I wouldn't know. And hopefully they will be profitable in the near future.
I hope the players do get more money as a result of the current negotiations. I just don't feel like they've been cheated so far, because there haven't been any profits to share. Yet.

Mark Davis bought the Vegas team for 2 million 4 years ago. The valuations are nonsense.

Open up the books and let's see what the truth is. You can't tell me that sales and business are up, TV contracts are worth more, ratings are up, and league popularity is at an all time high and then say that the players should only take in 9% of the revenue like we're in the late 90s.
Whenever people bring up the "The WNBA lost $50 million dollars!" thing, that's the figure the owners are telling us
You know, the people who have a vested interest in making it seem like the business is unprofitable when it comes to paying the labor
The NBA finds a way to claim they're unprofitable when it comes time to negotiate their CBA lol. Same way colleges cooked the books for decades to make it look like they weren't making any money off student athletes
But bootlickers gonna bootlick.

yeah i cant really see any argument that makes sense at this point to not at least give them a revenue split similar to the NBA. they got a couple years raking in off the bubble, contracts been honored. time to pay up

Re: 2025 WNBA Regular Season Discussion Thread
Demoralizing loss for Seattle, and a great win for Dallas.
The ever calm Nneka almost got in a fight. That's how bad it was.
Hopefully it's just as simple as Skylar being out and Arike catching fire. But Seattle's biggest weaknesses came to a head here (lack of depth and shooting).
And maybe the coaching problem. Gabby was the best player on the floor (as she will be more and more in her career). But Quinn left her on the bench forever when the game was still in reach. Storm fans calling for her job. Which they seem to do regularly.
Continue to be impressed by Dallas. They get good minutes from so many different players. Even Haley Jones was great in this one (no disrespect but she's been cut by two other teams this year). Paige came alive after Gabby made her life hell in the first half (Gabby on the bench while the game got out of hand it really doesn't make any sense).

If everybody is healthy, does Messeman come off the bench?
Seems ludicrous because she's easily one of the top 15 players in the world.
But I don't know how you break up the Liberty starting lineup. it's one of the most dominant starting lineups in the history of basketball, men or women.
Seems crazy to mess with a +40 net rating lineup. But this is one of the incredibly rare cases where it might make sense.

I have always been a Haley Jones skeptic, but she's played really well in this tour with Dallas. She's played good D, provided secondary ballhandling, made a lot of the right passes, and has especially been good cutting off ball and running the floor, especially when playing with Paige. She can still be maddening when she tries to shoot outside layup range or otherwise do too much with the ball, but you can see the makings of a positive player if she embraces the Naz Hillmon hustle/glue role player mentality. I don't really understand starting Quinerly along with Paige and Arike. A longer, lower usage wing like Jones actually makes more sense, especially if you want to keep Carrington with the second unit, and especially since their current starting bigs (Li and Geiselsoder) can space the floor.
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.
