Well well well deserved for both. The first of many awards I imagine for Miss Clark, and Phee, well I predict an MVPhee trophy in her future.

Yeah so I find it fun that Phee gets DPOY right after she averaged 40 in the 1st round. I think voters will be itching to give her an MVP going forward after they basically didn't seriously consider her over A'ja this year.

Playmaking is a big part of her game for sure. Just "roll and cut" does feel a little underwhelming lol

Yeah exactly she's really good at facilitating. Callling her a roll and cut player is lazy analysis

Yeah, a lot of the category labels seem questionable, especially that one because playmaking is AT's greatest offensive strength. I wonder if the labels are just labels, or if they have some relevance to the statistical analysis.
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Yesterday I was lying; today I'm telling the truth.

It's a major concern for me here, but I don't believe bball-index is using it to influence the LEBRON stat, but rather using stats to guess role, which then allows comparison within category.

Of course this also means that their role-sorter is so coarse that apparently no matter how many assists a player has, they can still be classified as if they aren't a facilitator. It's not "lazy", it's just flawed in a way that clearly could be improved...but realistically can't ever be perfect because the game is more complex than that.

Caitlin Clark officially got the call for ROY! Congratulations. Angel Reese is the only other rookie to receive 1 vote.

NBA publicizes voters votes - should the WNBA?

I'm not sure what you are getting at here, but one single voter does not speak for a "community".

I don't know, but if I had to guess, the one voter is a Chicago homer. Chicago homers are a special breed. They were betting heavy on the Bears at 9.5 wins before the season.

Hmm. Now what do you mean by this?

You do realize that these awards aren't voted on by players, but by media and journalists right?

One journalist voted for Angel. What does that have to do with the women's basketball "community".

"Community". Hmm.

Very weird comment.

Thought I couldn’t have made that any more blatantly obvious by using the term “community” and not “players”

The only thing that’s weird is voting Angel Reese for ROTY. Well, that and Angel Reese getting on an MVP ballot. Incredibly weird. Award ballots aren’t a place for trolling. Name, shame, revoke

I missed this yesterday, the All Rookie Team:

CC - Rickea- Fiebich - Angel - Cardoso

Glad to see Leo get her just due.

You can always find one person to be overly contrarian just to be contrarian

For f*ck's sake, one dude voted Melo for MVP in 2013. One dude voted Iverson over Shaq in 2000. F*ckin' Derrick Rose got an MVP vote in 2021. That's way more absurd than Angel getting 1 ROTY vote

But for the culture warriors, anything they can use to put down the WNBA to make themselves feel better I guess. It's genuinely really pathetic.

VJ Edgecombe/Jrue Holiday
Shaedon Sharpe/Cedric Coward
Kyle Filipowski/Collin Murray-Boyles
Alex Sarr/Clint Capela

It really is. Especially when they have constantly have nothing to add otherwise to any WNBA related discussions on here.

They don't watch games, don't have any insight on teams or players, don't even attempt to learn anything like the new fans that have hopped aboard, but they sure have time to pop on here to make their regularly scheduled, thinly veiled racist comment.
