Surprised at the game not showing Ionescu's defensive deficiencies. She even looks improved on that end.

BG though...

Kayla McBride is torching her right now. If this was Liberty vs Lynx I'd be ready to break something

Sab just hit two threes in a row.

Still a 20 point lead. I'm kinda shocked considering who the Phantom has on their team.

I'm glad they did a sidelines interview with BG because that was a sobering reminder about why this league exists to begin with.

I'm so glad she's home, safe, and able to hoop and get paid well.

Some really bad offense by the Phantom this game. Hope it's a first game thing and not a cohesion thing.

Day 2 just as amazing as Day 1.

Laces aren't a team people were talking about, but they could win it all. Makes sense. AT and McBuckets are always underappreciated.
AT is a big reason I love women's basketball, and it's so fun to see her thrive in this, which is not unexpected. Most normal human beings would have retired after all of her injuries, but here she is. History may not remember that she took Lynx to the brink when she can't use her shoulders anymore. They were dominant even without Jackie. Money Martin's fantasy tour continues with this team.

Satou will have better days, but AT's physicality had her shook on this afternoon.

Owls/Rose also amazing. Phee, of course, is out of this world. Alisha and Sklyar are just ballers.

Despite being 0-2, you have to love what you see from the Rose. They have fight. That Point Gawd behind the head pass was amazing. Reese and Azura showing a lot. Good to see them develop, and I think the Rose are going to be a factor in this.

Iowa women's high school basketball was 6 on 6 until into the 90's. The last high school state championship decided using 6 on 6 was around 1993, I believe.

The history of it is pretty fascinating. It was insanely popular. Think Caitlin Clark sized crowds for women's high school games in the 1950's.

And the history of it actually does maybe explain a little about how Caitlin Clark became Caitlin Clark. Clark never played 6 on 6, but everybody she learned basketball from did. It's how Lisa Bluder, among others, grew up playing.

It's 6 on 6, but 3 players on each team can't cross half court. A team's 3 forwards are on the side of the court with their offensive basket trying to score. The guards stay on the defensive side of the court to, you know, guard.

Anyway, it's a fast paced style that leads to a lot of passing, particularly long passes.

So, it's no shock that Iowa would one day produce a wildly popular wunderkind dazzling the world with long passes.

I knew about 6 on 6 women's basketball, but never saw a game played that way, and just thought of it as a ridiculous artifact of sexist paternalism.

But reading your post, it all of a sudden struck me that the Unrivaled full court 3 on 3 format can be seen as a direct descendant, just without the frontcourt/backcourt restrictions. When the Unrivaled format was announced, my main concern or curiosity was what the game would look like, since full court 3 on 3 had never to my knowledge existed in any organized setting. But now it seems like it does have a history, in a way. I wonder how much the organizers of Unrivaled were directly inspired by the 6 on 6 game.

The Unrivaled games so far has been really fun.

There have been a lot of good moments and performances, but one pleasant surprise has been Kate Martin. She played great today, not just shooting open jumpshots, but aggressively attacking closeouts for a couple of layups. And the coach put her in down the stretch of the fourth quarter to close out the game, even have she has some kind of injury earlier, and she had a three pointer, and the game winning bucket off a hard cut.

I've never been a Skylar Diggins-Smith fan, but she's winning me over with the two cold-blooded game winning plays in a row.
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Yesterday I was lying; today I'm telling the truth.

Okay that sounds really fun if I'm honest. If I ever have 11 people to ball with I might bring this up lol

I believe you could only dribble the ball once or twice. Obviously made for a lot of movement and teamwork.

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Didn't see a lot but the three on three seemed to let their skill shine through more.

I don't really have a favorite team, but Seattle is pretty high up there. Skylar is a lot of fun to watch. She plays with an edge. Especially when she comes out with the messy hair, that's when she's really looking to mix it up.

She was on the Angel Reese podcast a couple days before the 1st game, and it was a really good episode. She's come back after a torn ACL and having two kids.
