That is my hypothesis ... but you would think that surely Clark was under the supervision of somebody who has been trained to help athletes avoid that very problem. Hmmm.

Either way, it's ironic. The woman who played 83 games in 11 months, without a hint of injury, skips the off-season activities that many other players engage in, to rest her body over the next 7 months so that she can start the new season fresh. Then she immediately gets hurt with what is often described an overuse injury.

Could be her relative basketball inactivity contributed. Going from the weight room to in game action.

Maybe I'm naive, or overly optimistic, or maybe I'm underestimating CC's effect, but I really thought the Fever would handle the Mystics tonight. Apparently not. 16 turnovers says the TOs aren't all Clark's fault either. I never thought we'd be 2-3 at this point in the season, and it could get worse in the coming weeks. Another hole to dig out of. Honestly, it really has me questioning some of the offseason moves.

Boston was averaging 13 shots per game but got only 5 last night. That and Mitchell bricking once again did in the offense.

On a related note, the WNBA will be stronger when players like Kelsey Mitchell aren't considered stars. She does one thing -- score. Doesn't create, doesn't defend. We had a guy like that on the Bulls, Ben Gordon. He was never regarded as a star, was never going to be an All Star. If you want to be an elite NBA guard, you need to score and either create or defend. (If you can do all 3, you are prime CP3 and a superstar.) Scoring alone doesn't cut it. Women's hoops needs to develop better guards so that that holds true in the WNBA.

So far this season, Mitchell has been a $290k bomb. The other concern for the Fever is WTF is up with the defense? Bonner was signed to defend, Howard was signed to defend, Cunningham was signed at least in part to defend, Boston & Hull already are supposed to defend, and Clark who isn't a defender is hurt. But they still can't stop the opposition from scoring, and not good opponents either -- Washington & Connecticut.

This is not how I thought the season would go.

Bonner looks like she has a pulse. That is a positive. Hopefully it carries over once Caitlin gets back.

its even more apparent why teams play deny defense on CC the entire game. watching the Fever without her you see no real offensive flow; mostly just hoping for the best. Mitchell and Boston can get some buckets going 1 on 1 but that wont win you games vs the leagues best.

At this point, I am not impressed, at all. And that doesn't even get into the injury trouble they're in now. This sure doesn't look like the team that gave the Liberty a good game last week.

I'm kind of curious about the players who played in other leagues during the offseason, like Mitchell played in China, and other players played in Unrivaled. You would think this would keep them "warmed up" or "in the groove". Or does it wear them down? The WNBA season is relatively short compared to men's leagues. Does it help or hurt players to play in other leagues during the offseason? Mitchell got her fractured finger in China. I don't know if that helps explain her difficulties or not. At this rate, I'm not so sure we see Mitchell with the Fever next year.

Game day, lets get the W train back on track. If everyone plays with the intensity of Lexie Hull we win.

They really should have kept Temi Fagbenle. Leaving her unprotected doesn't make any more sense than it did at the time.

Whom would you have let go instead?

As for last night, live with Mitchell, die with Mitchell. Last night was live with Mitchell, plus the defense improved. Both good things that led to victory. But Boston getting only 5 shots ... she's averaging 6.7 shots per game without Clark, 12.7 with Clark. She really needs Caitlin to return.

Speaking of which, the Fever doesn't appear to have released any additional information about Clark's injury. They announced "at least 2 weeks" the weekend before last, which means in theory that Clark might miss only one more game, against the Sky on Saturday. But "at least" could also mean a lot longer, of course. We shall see.

be cautious and not DRose. He went from one ailment to another because he kept rushing back. All started with a big toe injury for him.
