She is not, of course, a WNBA darling. She has bounced among teams acquiring a bad reputation, and the league overlooked her for this year's All Star game, despite her big scoring numbers. But the dog whistlers portray her that way -- while also incessantly talking about how people pick on Caitlin Clark -- because doing so serves their political agenda.
I am old enough to remember when people did that to the NBA, calling out black players for their thuggery while staying quiet whenever white guys did such things, as with McHale closelining Rambis.
Yeah it's frustrating. Carter is not some angel, nor does the league even treat her as such. Call her an ass hole, by all means, because that flagrant against Mabrey was a dick move that could have broken her nose, but all that extra stuff is unnecessary. She's not the "darling" of the league. She's lucky to be on a roster with as many bridges as she's burned. That doesn't mean it's alright for people to start dog whistling every time she commits a hard foul or gets into it with someone.
Some folks just have to always make things weird, it's always anything BUT basketball.
