I'm sad I missed the Liberty Sparks game, I wanted to see how Cam is doing.

She pretty much just didn't get any minutes.

LA got close a couple times but the Liberty were in control all night.

Brink has looked great so far this year but no reason to throw her out there against JJ and Meeseman when it really wouldn't have mattered.

Brink injured her ankle after 5 minutes of play and didn't return. She's listed as day to day.
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Yesterday I was lying; today I'm telling the truth.

Valks are a better team but right now they just won't miss. Especially Zandalasini.

Oh damn. I didn't realize she got hurt.
Hopefully it's not too serious.

Listening to the crowd last night, you would never have been able to tell it was a regular season game against the 2 worst teams in the league

But yeah, CT can't support a team

Anyways, Lacan and Rivers are absolute menaces on defense. Saniya is tied for 5th in steals per game and tied for 13th in blocks per game, and if Lacan qualified for rate stats, she would be 2nd in the league in steals per game. Both are rookies, by the way

Offense is more of a work in progress, especially for Rivers though.

I didn't realize the Lynx owned Chicago's 1st this year

That's a yikes and a half, the Sky better hope the Sun pick moves up, cause it would suck to go through all this just to give some other team the 1st overall pick

Cause like, yeah they got Angel Reese out of it, but they only needed to move up 1 spot to get her

Not that I have much room to talk, the Sun traded their 1st this year for Marina Mabrey, but at least they were a contender last year with her.

And I don't think there's a person in the world (other than Jeff Paglioca, I guess) that thought the Lynx would have taken Angel with that pick.
If he's not the worst GM in the league, I don't know who is.

Although, Seattle is staring down the barrel of a **** hitting the fan scenario if they miss the Playoffs, and the Sparks make it.

They traded their own pick for Slim (not the Sparks or Aces pick). Sykes has been great, but trading a lottery pick for 10 games of her and no Playoffs would be a disaster.

I get where the Storm were coming from. They've now lost 6 straight, but 5 of those were by 4 points or fewer. It could end terribly, but they were right in the mix not long ago. If they make the Playoffs, they could do something, and Sykes would be a big part of it.

But if the Storm do miss the Playoffs, the Mystics would have back-to-back drafts with multiple lottery picks. Cheryl Reeve is going to win Executive of the Year, but Jamila Wideman is a strong candidate too.

And I think this will be the last year that teams just ignore the value of draft picks. It was stupid before, but now it's about to be undeniable.

2 more expansion teams coming, and one more coming each year for the next 3 after that. Players have to be protected, but draft picks do not.
With more teams, draft picks are more likely to make the roster and get minutes.

And I don't think the talent and depth of the '24 and '25 classes are going to be outliers going forward. The college game is stacked, and that doesn't seem to be changing any time soon. There's a load of international talent, and now they are going to want to play in the W with more money at stake.

The days of treating a top 10-15 draft pick as chop liver are over, imo.

Definitely not giving up on Seattle just yet.

All the close games, and ATL just couldn't miss last night

For Seattle, nothing is as good as it should be, even the defense.
But the talent is there. If they can get on the same page, they can play with anybody.

I've hated everything the franchise has done in the last year or so, but are we sleeping on the Aces?

Maybe they just beat a Liberty team that got in town on a back to back at 3AM. But Meeseman still got off.

But the Aces just keep getting wins. They've got all kinds of problems, but they can still have the 3 best players on the court on any night.
And with all due respect to Phee (and AT), A'ja might still be the best player on the planet.

All kinds of issues, but man, no team is going to like seeing them in the Playoffs.

It was a loss, but Meeseman is a damn technician.

Her and Stewie together is going to be breathtaking.

While I'm in hyperbole mode, GB Jewell.

She's been a star. She's making more money than everybody else on the team. Not having a great year.

In her situation, asking to come off the bench, and coming through like she did last night is just awesome.

A'ja, JYO, and Chels cooking with a locked in Jewell coming off the bench? I don't think they can win it all, but I ain't dumb enough to bet against them.

No shock that A'ja and Stewie have dominated the last decade of women's basketball. They take over when necessary, and always lift teammates up.
Phee is in that club now too.

Can never count out any of them.
