This is a Jayson Tatum scenario. Liberty win but my opinion of Stewie and Sabrina has gone down. This was one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen.

Happy NY got their first for sure, but clearly found myself rooting for MN this series. Liberty despite me liking the players still have that yucky super team feel to them. Def crossing my fingers for the Lynx next season.

Became a big Alanna Smith fan this series. That young woman played on a bum ankle for four games+ battling league MVPs. Respect.

Congrats Liberty and fans! Clearly a championship worthy team.

i'm just disappointed. liberty are more than a good enough team to win it all on their own but the refs just gave it to them by not overturning that alanna smith foul

edit: obviously liberty had to go out and take it in overtime, and they did, but the wind was out of the lynx sails by then

Great series.

I watched 3v3 in Big 3 and in the Olympics. It's just not as fun to watch on the screen for me than it is in the gym or the park.

Women's college tournament was more fun to watch than the men's, gold medal final to close out the Olympics, and an amazing WNBA playoffs. What a year for women's ball.

What a glorious capstone to this breakthrough WNBA season!

I thought the better team won, pure and simple. I don't think Stewie & Sabrina shoot that bad in an average game across the multiverse. This game represented something close to a best case scenario for the Lynx...and it wasn't quite enough.

I'm absolutely thrilled for everyone on Team Liberty from the players to our posters to the Tsai Family. The turnaround the franchise has had since shedding Dolan has been amazing, and I basically approve of all of it most definitely including the uniform focus on the color of the Statue of Liberty (copper patina, marketed as "seafoam green") and Ellie the Elephant. Brooklyn's got something special going on here, and winning the chip just seals the deal as an iconic moment.

That said, I am disappointed - if not surprised - that even in a series THIS close, modern Finals MVP voters refused to vote for the obvious most valuable player in the series, because her team lost.

To my mind, Phee should have swept the 3 major MVPs this season (Commish, RS & Finals), and instead she only got the least of those. I didn't expect her to have any chance at the RS MVP given A'ja's box score footprint - people actually though A'ja was the most valuable player, and so while I may disagree, I'm totally fine with the result...but I just don't believe people though Jonquel was more valuable than Phee. Just looks like an even more clear example of modern voters seeming to obey certain unwritten rules that everyone knows are overly simplistic...and some realize that voters of the past were not bound by the same rigid dogma.

What are these people talking about on ESPN that was clearly a foul and they have made a whole segment acting like it’s a questionable call

You mean the call at the end of regulation? It was clear travel and then shouldn’t have been a foul imo. She got bailed after having an epic choke job

The Smith blocking foul? I would not associate the word clear with that play.

That’s one where you acknowledge how hard the job of ref can be.

Personally thought it was pretty weak given time, score, gravity of game and lack of severity of foul if one would call it that.

I'll go with you part way:

1. I think the Lynx are the best team to watch right now. Beautiful basketball.

2. The Liberty are a super-team and I have aversion to cheering on super-teams.

But:

I don't think the Liberty players carry themselves like they are a super-team. What do I mean?

I mean, there's a humility to the group as players step their primacy DOWN to elevate their teammates that need to grow that I just don't think you tend to see in NBA super-teams. Like, when the Tsais did this with the Nets, Jarrett Allen ended up getting traded so that the coach couldn't start him over DeAndre Jordan despite Allen clearly being younger and already better. Then you have the Liberty where Sloot gracefully sliding back to the bench with the emergence of Leonie.

All this to say: I do find the Liberty players admirable as a team when I watch them, and I'm happy for them that they stuck the landing.

I hate that I couldn’t enjoy the end as a neutral fan with how badly the Linx got screwed over. It’s so frustrating how consistently one sided the bad calls were.

Don’t think there’s any need for “part way.” As I said, I like the Liberty players. That’s genuine, and unlike NBA super teams where I don’t like the stars (eg - KD, Lebron).
