Without question a mistake that makes clear she's not really operating like a professional analyst so much as a former player getting paid to say whatever she feels like.

I will say, it's not the worst type of mistake along these lines I've seen because Covid made it so that players were eligible for a 5th year - whereas at any other time assuming 5 years would just be totally bizarre.

For comparison, my go to "WTF" standard came when Jay Williams tweeted that the Celtics were hiring their first Black head coach in Ime Udoka. Leaving aside the fact that Williams clearly knew nothing about history which explains not knowing about Bill Russell or KC Jones, there's also the matter Doc Rivers was the Celtic coach from 2004-13 during which Williams was an adult working in the field of professional basketball.

It was one of those "Tell me you only have this job because you made a name on the court without telling me" moments.

So yeah, at least Swoopes mistake there wasn't quite that bad, but she's not recovering from it gracefully at all.

Took the words out of my mouth. She never said anything malicious or crazy, but just made a mistake. Not sure she can recover from this right away, but it's another PR lesson in 2024 for everyone young and old.

Damn, that sucks. Hope they get her right and no long term ill effects.

Recovering from a case myself. Spreading like wildfire. Insane anecdotals with number of people I know traveling and coming back with it.

New cdc guidelines are weak af. I get we’ve figured out the people not dying part which is obviously most important. But it’s clearly much more contagious vs other respiratory illnesses and having too many people than need to be really sick and spreading it is messed up.

Draft Rights to Leonie Fiebich (a current rookie who is a rotation player for the Champion Contender Liberty)
A 2023 1st which became the 11th pick (Abby Meyers was picked)
A 2024 1st which became Jacy Sheldon
A 2024 NYL 2nd (17th overall) which became Esmery Martinez
The Right for Dallas to Swap picks in 2025

and for all their troubles, with Mabrey and a 2025 Second Rd Pick, what they got back was Moriah Jefferson, Rachel Bantham and a 2025 1st and 2026 pick swap with the Connecticut suns. Which might pan out if Conneticut blows it up but considering they made the trade they'd probably not tank the year they have a swap.

Just a really shortsighted move from the front office, once none of their big name players who were FA ended up coming back, the end result they traded a lot of their future away for a player who didnt want to be the star of a team barely in the playoff hunt.

This is so sad to hear, especially at a time when COVID no longer seems to cause serious symptoms in most cases.
I hope she will recover fully and soon.
