Indy played better in the 3rd, but the Liberty also got clocked because it went into cruise control. It was always going to be dangerous for the Fever when the champs started to take the game seriously again.

I predicted at the start of the year that the Liberty wouldn't have a great regular season record because they would have games where they lack the hunger. After all, what do they need to prove in the regular season? So far, I have been wrong, but I do think that the 3rd quarter was a signal of that possibility.

I think Natasha Cloud will help keep the Liberty from going into cruise control.

I also think the emergence of the Fever helps, and the Lynx and the way the Finals went down.
It's not just getting over the Aces hump anymore.

Even after a title, it feels like the Liberty are still disrespected (though I can't quantify that).
For example, when people talk MVP (and the betting odds), it's A'ja, Phee, CC.
Liberty have two former MVPs that don't seem to get talked about as much these days, and both seem to be playing with a little chip on their shoulder.

Also, Sabrina as a player still on the rise in her career. She's been through hell to get healthy, and in some ways, it's really only her 3rd real year in the league. She's said '23 was really the first time her ankle was starting to feel right.

I could be wrong, but they still seem plenty hungry to me.

Overall, I agree. I thought they relaxed in the 3rd, but that's the only quarter this year that one can accuse them of that.

Nice bounceback for the Storm on Friday. Skylar and Nneka were on fire.
If Gabby keeps playing like this, and they can get Ezi going on offense, they could do some damage. So much of the team's success will come down to outside shooting because they do everything else so well.

Skylar and Gabby won't stay this hot from 3, but even just solid would be huge. Mix in Nneka taking a few more, and getting some from Cooke and/or Lexie off the bench and they can weave together enough outside shooting to open things up.

Malonga still only got 5 minutes. Game was tight the whole way, and Quinn will surely be conservative with her this early in the season.
But she looked pretty good. No blocks, but seemed to at least make it difficult at the rim. AT got her one on one, and was licking her chops to take the kid to the rim. She did, but Malonga recovered and made it a difficult finish that AT missed.

It was another rookie from Cameroon that had the big night. Monique Akoa Makani had a great game and hit a big shot late before Seattle went on the run to close it.

A transition dunk from Malonga is coming soon. She looks like Randy Moss running down the floor. Fast and longer than everybody else.

We'll see how they look against the Aces tonight when Jewel comes back to town.

And just going to warn everybody....if they do win tonight, I've got some really stupid takes coming.

Storm cracking the Top 4 is highly unlikely, but not out of the question if they can get a few things together. Skylar and Nneka have a season together under their belt, and seem pissed off.

Jewel certainly seems ready to play in this one.

Seattle seems really sharp in the early going though.

AC with a corner 3.

Aces loved her hitting corner 3's. Then they traded away all their corner 3's.

Gabby with another 3.
People may not respect Seattle's Big 3. But Seattle's #3 took Team USA to the brink.

For Seattle, it seems personal with Vegas at this point. There are a few reasons that could be the case.

Curb-stomping.
People can doubt Skylar, Nneka, and Gabby if they want.

So glad to see Liz Kitley getting some run. Hell, she's giving the Aces some life.

Kitley really does look good.

Other than a few shots from Jewel in the 1st quarter, Kitley seems like the only Aces player that's done much today.

No, that's not a typo.

Storm were all over their asses all game.
