Man I didn't know the playoffs were specific her so fast. WNBA need to fix that, the playoffs are the big money maker.

But I don't like that the wnba was more than happy to take their money and kept relatively quiet about it the whole season. It almost feels like they gave the go ahead for players/coaches/media to really start talking about this now that fever's season is done and money train won't be disrupted.

I feel like even acknowledging randoms online making empty silly statements is even a waste. The league needs to block that stuff out like every other league and organization that gets it. Everyone does.

I think you've got a point if it stayed online, but it isn't. The reports from the Sun-Fever series are ugly.

In general I'd emphasize that there have been problematic actors on both sides, and yes that includes some WNBA players on the "other side", but there is clearly a CC + MAGA fan base that is traveling to road Fever games and heckling with racial connotations, and this is a thing that the WNBA needs to figure out how to handle.

CC on the other hand seems to know how to take the high road every time, which is extremely impressive.

I think they should part ways if we’re being honest. Clark isn’t meant for the WNBA and vice versa. It’s too toxic. She should go play in Europe.

This makes absolutely no sense and I'm not sure what to even make of it.

You do realize that this stuff has gone beyond online trolling? Angel Reese has gotten death threats and has been stalked and followed.

Sorry man but player safety matters a lot more than the stuff you don't want to hear leagues say because it doesn't personally impact you. These are human beings ffs.

It makes plenty of sense. If this is going to follow her around and she’s going to have to apologize on behalf of anonymous trolls her entire career why put up with it? Especially when the other players aren’t forced to apologize for the dirty plays, anonymous trolls going at her etc. she got poked in the eye on purpose and nothing happened. why put up with that if you don’t have to? She proved she belonged already. Go play in Europe and leave the baggage behind.

So, I'd disagree.

I would say that the US now utterly dominates women's basketball in a manner that a) US men don't and b) US women didn't before the WNBA.

I would say the illusion that other leagues mattered more than the WNBA was based on Russian oligarchs throwing money at women so they could treat them as pets, and that's now probably gone forever.

Now, Clark herself could surely get more money to be a pet than any basketball woman before is she wanted...but I don't think it can match the American endorsement money she can get if she stays in the States.

And further, WNBA salaries are about to explode with the main rival likely being the Unrivaled league that WNBA players are starting domestically.

So yeah, as with the men, I would not suggest any great basketball talents waste their time by leaving the US entirely. The most they should consider doing in general is playing in the off-season somewhere else.

Pretty much. That's why the players association lashed out today on social media.

The WNBA needs to make a decision, they can either play footsie with racists and bigots who use Clark's name against her will for their culture war, or they can tell them that their business isn't wanted because in the long run it's about the real fans who watch games and support the product, and not people with racial agendas.

For the people who say that the league should ignore it, you need to realize that Caitlin Clark is being hurt by this garbage too. Not that these people care about Clark to begin with. And she knows it.

Clark is such a star the money will follow. She’s the tail that can wag the dog anywhere. If this toxicity is so prevalent any person woukd likely want to remove themselves from it if you had the type of leverage that she has. I’m sure the competitor on her would want to stay but is it worth it from a mental standpoint? I don’t think so. A lot of girls don’t want her or “her fans” around. She has the star power to remove herself.

I see zero reason why she should leave her HOME country and the world's top league to play in Europe because people cannot behave like normal functioning adults. That makes no sense.

The league investing in security resources and working with federal law enforcement to crack down on people sending death threats and stalking/harassing players is a much better alternative.

Asking her to continuously denounce things she has no control over, while she gets cheap shotted weekly, and other players aren’t asked the same questions will eventually get old. She has the leverage to leave if she gets tired of it. I don’t see anything changing next year. There’s certainly palpable dislike of her amongst the other players.

Clark isn't apologizing for racist trolls, she condemned their behavior and rightfully called them trolls and not fans.

And please. I already see that you're also using Clark as a wedge between her and the other players. Your concern trolling is blatantly transparent.

Clark even said the eye poke was an accident. Do you even listen to her? Or do you just ignore her when what she says or does doesn't suit your agenda?

Just like her hit to Dijonai's eye was incidental contact. This notion you and other trolls try to push by pretending that someone tried to gouge her eyes out is absurd.

I guess Caitlin needs to run to Europe because she'll be safer there, right?

If the league doesn’t want her and won’t penalize players for cheap shots why should she stay. I just used Europe as an example. She’ll draw crowds on the moon.

 an eye poke in basketball isn't some outlier, it happens pretty often when players are making plays on the ball...which is what happened.

And literally no other player has echoed your sentiments...you are literally making stuff up because you have an agenda, hence why you said she should go play in Europe.

Was clearly intentional. You are lying. But that’s ok.
