The Maya Moore booth discussion was great. Charles can say what he wants, but *she* is a role model. :P

In the half court, the Lynx offense was fluid and multi-faceted. Lovely to watch. The Fever, meanwhile, was reduced to solo drives by the only two Indiana players who can beat their opponents off the dribble. When that didn't happen, the Fever players would just give up and throw a prayer pass to a double-teamed Boston. Painful to watch.

Didn't help that the Fever were ice cold on their 3 pointers either, 24%. Mitchell was 2 for 10, she usually does better than that.

I need this post removed as it’s clearly a hate crime against USF Bulls legend, Courtney Williams, the best player I’ve ever played against.

Jokes aside, CC got her ass

Courtney Williams has that dog in her for real.

But yeah, she committed a cardinal sin and reached in. She knows better

By my count this is the 3rd ankle breaker of the season for CC. She caught someone else bad like a few nights back with a behind the back stop cross. :noway:

For sure. If the Fever had been red hot on 3s, they would have won and the narrative would be very different.

And Courtney has nothing to fuss about, because she had Caitlin on skates too. I had not before seen a PG beat Clark so many times off the dribble. Although in some fairness to Clark, I feel that on a couple of those instances the plan was to force Courtney to the baseline into the help defense -- which never showed, giving Courtney the easy layup and making Clark look foolish.

Man, I hate the idea of the Fever losing Mitchell, I don't care how short she is.

Mitchell has had a rough last quarter.

2-10...

Ends a great game to 3/4 time to be 55% TS overall

One of Clark's best games, although the box score won't really show it. She went 19/7/7 but she had 8 (8!) passes for layups on which she got no assists. Three times the Fever players were fouled, 5x they missed layups that would make an 8th grader blush.

She accompanied that with only 2 TOs, pretty good defense (except for a couple of silly touch fouls for +1 plays), and excellent floor generalship.

This places Clarks’s impact in crazy perspective

I still yell at the TV a lot with those Fever post passes. Boston & Smith scored 21 points on 24 shots between them, which is crappy, and that's not counting all the TOs that come from passing into the post. I have said it before and will say it again, that's just not a good percentage play.

In contrast, Mitchell and Clark had 48 points on 37 shots. Not only a much better ratio, but you don't make many turnovers passing the ball on the perimeter, as opposed to all those giveaways when feeding the post.

Yeah, I've come around on that issue. The Fever are dead without Mitchell, because nobody else on the roster (except for Clark's backup PGs) can create either their own shot or a shot for somebody else. Mitchell -- or somebody else like her -- is essentially to prevent the opposition from blitzing Clark for every play in the game.

I think sometimes they depend on Mitchell too much. I can understand giving the ball to the hot hand, but at the end there Clark was just not aggressive at all about taking a shot. Sides said something about her not feeling well, I don't know if she was talking about her turned ankle or something else. It just seemed like Clark was laying back a lot at the end. Which was frustrating, because I wanted her to get that 20-5-5 (she just needed a point). But I'll take the win first and foremost.

I don't think the team afford to lose her for nothing. All Stars and good efficient shooters don't grow on trees.

I think honestly, i keep that backcourt together. CC is going to have to improve her defense and get stronger physically.

Keep pumping that iron. Replace Wheeler, I think she makes about what Mitchell does.

That and the Lynx game made for an instructive duo. Minnesota got the shots it wanted and forced the Fever into solo efforts from Mitchell and Clark. In contrast, Indy got the shots it wanted against the Dream and forced Atlanta into contested jumpers.

Indy would have beaten Atlanta by 15 had the Fever not missed bunny after bunny after bunny. The finishing off Clark's passes was godawful. But Indy was so clearly the better team, just as Minnesota was the previous game.

No surprise, there is a big difference in the WNBA from top third (Minnesota) to middle third (Fever) to the dregs (Atlanta).
