Cameron Brink torn ACL

Well that sucks. This draft class has inserted more energy and interest in the WNBA than at any other time I can remember and Brink was one of the shining lights alongside Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.

Non-contact, or very little contact injury. She's got that Wemby body and it's why we all worry for these super tall, skinny players who are slashers. She wasn't doing anything special. Just trying to get leverage to turn the corner and get to the rim and her knee buckles inward in a very ugly way. Kinda makes my skin crawl to watch it.

So she's out until next season, at the very least, I'm guessing. Hurry back Brink, the WNBA is better with you out there.

The hottest of takes...

I haven't heard a replacement yet.

Honestly this is a huge blow because her shot blocking is insane

FIBA 3x3 has a complicated eligibility process. Players have to qualify by playing in FIBA 3x3 events. USA Basketball can't just choose whomever they want. You have to have two players ranked in the top 10 for the country and 2 players in the top 50 for the country.

Burdick and Van Lith are both in the top 5 for the US, so replacements for Brink (and potentially Rhyne Howard) would have to be in the top 50 for the US. The most likely players would be Dearica Hamby and Allisha Gray.
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Playing in FIBA 3x3 events, although I don't know the exact formula.

Yes, but it's still a bit opaque. That explanation doesn't include the actual formulas. And for team selection, rank within your own country is the important number, as long as the country has qualified. Here's the FIBA 3x3 ranking "quick guide," if you're really curious. But if you have any questions about it, don't ask me. Try consulting the FIBA 3x3 ranking "full guide," which is only 13 pages long ;-)

I'm eager to see if the Sky can do anything against the Aces on Thursday. After yesterday, it seems a good bet that they'll start to feature the Sky Towers a lot more on offense. They combined for 41 points, and every single one of them came from inside or from the FT line. The Fever outscored them by 27 from 3 and still lost. Can you imagine that happening in the NBA today? So, on Thursday it's gonna be a 90's NBA team against a 2024 NBA team, lol.

Edit: sorry for posting this in the wrong topic

With a lot of couples, my first reaction is "I don't get what this one sees in that one."

Here, my reaction is just, "Okay, of course."

I’m such a sports weirdo.

I see these couples and quickly think about the athletic potential of any potential offspring.

Cam and huge Stanford rower dude.

Julie and Zach Ertz.

Lauren and Jrue Holiday.

A’ja and Bam (???)

so many others, just don’t care to look em up.

Return to WNBA
