Childress will probably be our sixth player and we will sign 2 big names from nba.(Gordon and Artest probably)

Actually tank rates are at their lowest since 2002 and shipping companies are having a hard time making payments on their ships and the banks are making calls requesting increased collateral as the value of even new ships have plummeted to 60% of build value. Unless he's saved a lot of cash or doesn't have much debt he's undoubtedly highly affected by the take rate crisis.

Olympiacos basketball owners are shipping and steel magnates. Sure they have probably lost a lot of money like most other rich people but their whole family is billionaires. Not to mention Olympiacos is one of the richest clubs in the world in terms of revenues and state support and fan support. I don't think they have any financial issues in even the slightest possible way.

But like I said, they learned their lesson about the real level of NBA players already. They know now that those players being signed will not bring a championship just because you signed them. So the idea of giving a huge contract to them is highly unlikely. The only guy they would even consider from that list I think to give a huge deal to would be Gordon. The other players? They can get just as much or more production from the Euro market. I know NBA fans go crazy and feel like someone kicked their puppy for saying anything like that, but it's true. You don't do this unless you actually get a player that would be top notch for the Euroleague level. You only mentioned one guy that would be a top notch player at the Euroleague level and that's Gordon.

The #1 player that Olympiacos should go after is Anthony Parker imo, he is a FA now, has the Euroleague experience and no problems returning to play in Europe and also is very affordable.

They gave Parker that huge offer last summer, but if they do sign him it will just be like the PAO Jasikevicius signing or the Childress signing Olympiacos already made. He will be extremely overpaid and he won't really make much of a difference. Again there are better players than him on the Euro market and they can be had much cheaper. But I think as stated already, Olympiacos learned their lesson on this already.

Of course Kobe will not leave the NBA. But just so you know the Greek club Olympiacos and the Italian club Milano have both offered him $30 million per year AFTER taxes = to about a $60 million per year NBA contract. There is zero chance he will leave the NBA. ZERO. But those offers are on the table from those two clubs and don't doubt it.

I seriously doubt even Olympiakos would make him an offer like that but let's give Angelopoulos a chance, he's that crazy. But i can ensure you that Milano is never, ever, ever making Kobe or anyone else an offer worthing even 1/5 what you mentioned.

10 million euros = 13.5 million dollars. With endorsements being lost, plus the fact his career will likely be shorter going to Europe, he is likely to receive less over the course of his career by going to Greece.

Endorsements for players like Childress or Gordon doesn't mean that much, the gap between the stars like LeBron, Kobe or Garnett and the average players is huge.

You are wrong. They both have made that offer.

Nobody ever made such an offer. Stupid media hysteria combined with some careless statements by the player.

By the way, I'd rather have solid, well-thought acquisitions and serious basketball than luring one of those clowns to come over for a lot of money and creating a big show around it.

As you say,It's all about money.
I can't see how Olympiakos can earn money or even avoid bankruption if what you say comes ture

Because you don't understand that Olympiacos is one of the richest sports clubs on Earth.

Well, unlike average NBA players like Pargo and Childress, there are some good NBA players on that list. Wallace is washed up. For once the Euroleague might get some good NBA players who aren't past their prime. I'll believe it when I see it. I dare any team to sign Iverson.

Usa is better than 2006 ,but Greece too(4 old players left and the newcomers are superb players). You may won Lithuania and Turkey(they are weak teams and these were friendly games) but Greece at the proolympic tournament destroyed all teams too.

I keep hearing about Howard strength. Big Sofo is about 100 times stronger. I will not show you how he destroyed Howard and Bosh at 2006. Just watch at 1:44. Howard tries to take the rebound and big Sofo keep him away like he is a weak baby http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YWzVZHv ... re=related

sofoklis wrote:Kaman is a joke. This slow guy is 10 times slower than Sofo(and sofo is 160 kilos) and he isnt something special. Also Germans with Dirk and Kaman were a joke in the proolympic tournament and lost easy from Croatia. At least they qualified

Now Greece destroyed all teams ,although i must admit that the teams were very weak. Even Puerto Rico lost with 30 points. Greece will win the gold medal and Usa and Spain will fight for the silver medal.

Sofo is now 160 kilos and the plan of the team is to go 135 kilos this year. This guy has no problem with his knees and he dunks all the time. He is a beast. The problem is that his stamina is bad because of his weight. He comes from the bench and change the game. Offcource he cant play 40 minutes ,but he can play 20 minutes.

There isnt Dream team anymore. Lebron,Wade,Carmello,Hinrich(lol),Bosh are not something special(only kobe is trully great). You will lose again from Greece ,because Greece has better players and team.

sofoklis wrote:Greece will win again. Greece is even better now. We have changed 4 players and the team is more young and athletic. You have no hope again. Dont understimate European players and especially Greek players. Also Sofo has lost some kilos(160 kilos from 200 kilos) and he will prove again, that nba centers are no match for him. Prepare yourself to see dunks in front of Howard and Bosh.

I am sure that Usa team will be better too(kobe returns) but you will lose again

Also 2006 USA team had Lebron and Wade and Carmello and Paul and Howard and Bosh etc. It's basically the same team(Kobe until now don't play well). Greece made a bad game. We had like 0/8 three points and 25 turnovers!

Also our biggest weapon didn't play for almost a year and he wasn't in good condition. Now tell me how can a fat and slow man be faster than Howard ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2Cup9IaqHo

Olympiakos is better than most nba teams.

Yeah I remember him, Team USA shut a bunch of them up last summer. LOL at him coming back like nothing happened.

Childress and Pargo were average NBA players. Childress was nothing until he played well against the Celtics in the 2008 playoffs. I think it was a fluke. Gordon is a 20 ppg scorer and clutch shooter. He's a good NBA player, but not an All-Star. He's still young and in his prime.

The gap between a star like Wade and an average player like Pargo is big. However, the gap between Wade and Gordon.....not so much.
