He's American, not Greek.
This thread isn't basketball related, I think; isn't there a current affairs/off-topic board? If so, why is this here?

Re: Spanish =/ Latino American
I don´t really know much about the issue but using the term "latino" would be the less accurate isn´t it? I mean... calling a Spanish "latino" is correct but i think that people don´t realise that the word "latino" is for the places where latin was spoken.Italians for example are latinos.I could be wrong but that is what i´ve always thought.
I don´t feel offended neither, im spanish too.

Rubio is Hispanic. If a person interprets Hispanic as being only Mexican then that person is (Please Use More Appropriate Word) as well. If someone like KWSN-Men is offended by being called Hispanic then they are both illogical and racist because they don't want to be linked to other Hispanic nations. Get over it..
Kwsn is greek not spaniard. BTW, i'd recommend him going here where he'll find the help he needs.
Also, spaniards are not caucasian, they can be of any race just like hispanics or latino-americans. All of them are either political, geographical or cultural terms not racial.
I'm Basque. That region includes Spain.

methius wrote:The use of classifications has long been debated in the U.S. for lack of accuracy and misuse of categorizing ethnicity. For instance, the white category includes 'Non-Hispanic Whites' and 'Hispanic Whites' and the black category includes 'Non-Hispanic Blacks' and 'Hispanic Blacks'. Regardless of how the U.S. categorizes people, in its original definition, Hispanic refers to a person that speaks the Spanish language. Also, the term Latino was originally meant to refer to a person who spoke one of the Latin languages (Spanish, Italian, French..) so you could argue that Rubio is in fact BOTH Hispanic and Latino. So if people want to look at things from their own distorted perspective then go ahead, but the facts are the facts.
Oh I see. So since Briton is from Roman times then and since British people speak English, then that means all English speaking people on Earth are Britons. Yep. I mean that's a fact based on your logic and reasoning. Anyone on Earth that speaks English is a Briton.

I'm Basque. STOP MAKING UP MY HERITAGE. You have been doing it many times in several threads. I am sure that is worthy of a legit complaint to mods.

Where does this vision through a message board come from then? Then again, I have an IQ of 198...

In the US "Hispanic" doesn't mean that when people use it. It means "Mexican".
What US are you talking about? Certainly not the one that I live in.

Latino is shorts for Latino-americans. Using your logic, French canadians would be latinos.

Exactly. But of course we're talking about U.S. English.
Latino means a different thing in Spanish.

Yea it's possible, normally I would put people like him on my ignore list, but every now and then this guy posts insightful information about international basketball. It's just his self-righteous tone and pompous rants that irks you.
