Nando De Colo and Milenko Tepic

Post#1 » by vincecarter4pres » Thu Feb 26, 2009 8:58 pm

Does anyone have any info, opinion, scouting reports or have seen either of these 2 guys play?

They are both rather intriguing prospects, 6'5 and 6'7 point guards respectively who play on pretty brandname Euro teams.

Most of the stuff I have found on these guys short of actual statistics is outdated by a year or more.

Are they both declaring this year?

Any info would be cool.

Don't know much about Nando De Colo, but Tepić could be a 2nd round steal if he declares. But I think I read somewhere that he'd much rather sign a big contract in Europe than struggle in the NBA, so he'll probably stay in Europe for a couple of seasons and make a bigger name for himself.

He's not the best shooter, but he improved this season. Not very athletic, which could be a problem for playing in the NBA, but smart and knows how to get the job done, sort of like Ginobili. He's a better team defender than man-to-man defender because of his lack of athleticism, so that's a big minus. His ballhandling is a bit shaky, as he has a lot of turnovers. I don't know how he would look like in run and gun system, because Partizan has always played half-court, slow paced offense. I could see a team like Spurs or Bobcats draft him.

I wouldn't say Tepic is a clear cut point guard. More of a combo-guard who can also play the SF position too, despite his rather small size.

In any case, NBA better forget about him because he said he wants to play for Panathinaikos, like Pekovic. So I'd say he will be locked in Europe for the next 3 years at least.

Tepic makes it pretty clear he wants to go to Panathinaikos. I don't think he cares about the NBA at all just like Nikola Pekovic. Panathinaikos needs a starting SF and Tepic could probably be developed into that as he matures physically.

Milenko Tepic: Panathinaikos is my choice

Partizan's second top scorer in the Euroleague and one of the best European prospects, Milenko Tepic revealed his desire to play for Panathinaikos in the future. This admission came in an interview the Serb youngster gave to the Greek sports newspaper 'Goal'.

Moreover, Tepic said that in case he had similar offers from big caliber clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona and Panathinaikos, he would choose Panathinaikos because he has friends there like Nikola Pekovic and coach Zeljko Obradovic. "Of course all this speculation requires one basic condition, that Panathinaikos actually wants me", Tepic said.

When asked about Olympiacos, he said "I will be honest, without wanting to offend anyone, but I would never play for Olympiacos. To me Olympiacos is like Red Star in Serbia. Maybe it is because I have friends in Panathinaikos and because of Obradovic"

Well, they'll both be automatically eligible, if I'm not mistaken, no need to declare.

Tepic is a very interesting player, who doesn't get enough recognition (it's improving this season) and will be one of the best European players in the next decade. However, I think he maybe kind of slow-footed to play in the NBA. He's more of a point-forward than a PG - and there's no way he can defend NBA guards, he'd need to guard 3s. Anyway, he'll probably sign a big contract for a couple of years with a rich European club. A solid mid 2nd round pick for a team willing to wait.

De Colo is a gifted scoring guard and solid outside shooter without many PG skills. He can create for himself and others but can't really run an offence. More disturbingly, I haven't noticed any kind of improvement on his game during the last 2 years, especially on the defensive side - where he really needs it if he wants to play in the NBA. Mid 2nd round to late 2nd round, depending on what he shows the rest of the season.

Yeah I think Draftexpress is once again confusing NBA fans. I wouldn't call either player a PG. De Colo is a 2 and Tepic is a 3 that can play 2 or some point forward.

I only watch Tepic play at the Reebok Eurocamp in 2006. He is a small forward if he were to play in the NBA. He can make plays, but by far and away, he is not a point guard. Well rounded, smart kid. If I were him, I'd stay in Europe for a few more years.

Yeah, he's a small forward type guy.

Tepic signed a 3 year contract with Panathinaikos to be the club's backup small forward. So it's obvious that just like Nikola Pekovic he doesn't have much interest in the NBA.

I forgot about this thread. :)

Anyone have any good video on de Colo?

I am hoping Thorn grabs a 2nd round pick and drafts this guy with the intention of bringing him over in a couple seasons.

What do you guys think of an European Joe Johnson as a comparison for Nando?
