Smondis retiring?

Post#1 » by Greek » Thu Oct 1, 2009 3:19 pm

According the Greek media Smondis is close to retire, after that he will have to make a serious surgeon on his back. If thats true then its a huge loss for the European basketball. My best wishes to him for fast recovery.

Talkbasket started this stupid rumour. Anything that comes off that website is crap.

From the way I understand he will not play this season and he might then play a few more years in a second division club after that. However his career with CSKA is 100% over.

Stop making stuff up. He's having a surgery in Tel Aviv this weekend and will be sidelined for the next 3, 4 months. He's planning to come back somewhere around February when Top 16 stage in Euroleague starts.

Yeah sure he will have major back surgery and be back playing this year. CSKA is just saying obvious PR statements. Can you name ANY player that had major back surgery and was back in 3 to 4 months playing?

It was more a minor back surgery... and we have still to see him in real NBA games.

It's the same type of surgery Smodis will be having. And he says his back is 100 % now.

No, he says he feels a lot better and pain-free but that's not exactly like saying "my back is 100% now, guaranteed"...

What kind of surgery will he have? major surgery can be a lot of things. Some take 1/2 a year to recover, some a couple of months.

i hope he retires from CSKA and comes back home

He is having the same problems/surgery as Darijus Lavrinovic, so he should back in 3 months...

Gallinari's last game was March 15th. That's not 3-4 months.
