Drafted: Entered 1989 NBA Draft as a junior and went undrafted, but did spend time after the age of 30 with the Washington Bullets and San Antonio Spurs where he won the 1999 NBA Championship (was originally signed as a 3-point specialist for the Spurs, but rarely received minutes as the Spurs would sign Steve Kerr just before the start of the season).
International Player of the Year (1990, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 2000)
Gaze won the prestigious NBL Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) seven times: 1991, 1992, 1994-98.
Also won the NBL Most Efficient Player award every year from 1990 to 1997. The award was then discontinued, making Gaze the only ever person to win the award.
In 1993 Andrew Gaze realised his dream, with Melbourne Tigers winning the NBL Championship. In 1997, Andrew was superb as the Tigers stormed into the finals on the back of a record-breaking 16-game winning streak on their way to a 2nd NBL Championship.
Scored 18,908 points in the NBL over 612 games in a 22-season span at an average of 30.9 points per game.
His best season was 1991 scoring 1007 points at an average of 38.7ppg and also leading the league in assists.
During his career, he was NBL Leading Scorer 14 times (1986, 1988, 1989, 1991 - 2001).
Gaze is the all-time leader in the NBL in games, points and assists. He is 2nd in career steals.
Gaze was chosen in the All-NBL First Team 15 times (1986 - 2000).
According to official NBL statistics, Gaze played in front of 2,614,506 fans during his career.
Gaze represented Australia at five Olympics (finishing 4th twice): 1984 (Los Angeles, USA); 1988 (Seoul, South Korea); 1992 (Barcelona, Spain); 1996 (Atlanta, USA); 2000 (Sydney, Australia).
Gaze also represented Australia at four World Championships: 1986 Spain, 1990 Argentina, 1994 Canada and 1998 Greece.
Averaged 30ppg in a 6 month stint in Italy where he played for Udine. Also played for AC Apolon in Greece averaging 23ppg.

I remember him, scoring machine, poor D, but my favorite Aussie of that era is clearly Shane Hill.
