i watch euroleague because of the intensity and passion for the game of their crazy fans

This.

NBA play offs have more intensity, but believe me nothing is compared with the intense of Panathinaikos vs Olympiacos for example even of regular season game. Imagine now the finals.

I caught a couple of euroleague games recently... I wasn't a big fan of the lack of basketball fundamentals and inferior defensive play.

It was nice to see fewer whistles but it really had less to do with the refs "letting them play" than the refs missing call after call.

With all due respect, you need to watch more games if that's what you got from the Euroleague. I actually think it's the opposite, there are less bone-headed plays than in the NBA. Also refs are stricter in terms of violations like travelling and palming the ball, and generally speaking all players can shoot the ball decently, even bigs, unlike the NBA. So I think the Euroleague has the edge as far fundamentals are concerned (but not talent, obviously)

Overall I prefer NBA basketball simply because this is the league where the best players play. The quality of play is more consistent, whereas some games in the first phase of Euroleague can be depressingly boring. Euroleague really gets interesting when the knockout stages begin.
My only beef with the NBA, as others have already pointed out, is the amount and length of timeouts and the stupid jingles/animations/gimmicks in the arenas

I like Euroleague but I have some issues with it.

The first round is at times awful, there's a huge gap in talent between those that qualify to the second easily and the bottom feeders. It's like half the games are Cavs/Nets!

Fewer games does mean higher intensity, but the weeks off (like next week) kill any anticipation I have for some games.

Some of the lower teams are waaaaaaay too reliant on the three *glares at Partizan*

In terms of entertainment personally I'd say
Start of the NBA season >>> Euroleague first round
Dog days of the season Jan/Feb << Euroleague 2nd round
End of the season/first couple rounds = Best of 5 series (about equal can swing one way or another based on matchups)
Conference Finals/Finals > Final Four

I know some people like the single game format for the title, personally when I see two teams that are about equal I like a hard thought series instead of a one and done. All just my opinion of course.

Really I think if the NBA shaved 20-25 games off it's schedule it would be perfect.

Less open shots
Way tougher team defense
Team offensive, no "one player offensive"
90% basketball players and 10% athletes, not the other way round

That´s why Euroleague is a better basketball game. Maybe is not as spectacular as NBA, but look, maybe what you like is not really basketball.
da da da da daaaaaa...
