Maybe there´s a little homerish in my analysis, but you can´t argue with Varejao being the 2nd most important piece in Cavs. Mike Brown has said that, as LeBron, as many more writers...

People usually say this about good defenders. Payton was labeled as dirty, Rodman, Bowen, Artest too...

PG Diamantidis/Papaloukas/Teodosic
SG Spanoulis/Navarro/Fernandez
SF Siskauskas/Kirilenko/Khryapa
PF Dirk/Bourousis/Lorbek
C Pau Gasol/Schortsanitis/Pekovic

IMO the 3 best European players in order at each position.

Also for a best 12:

PG Diamantidis/Papaloukas/Teodosic
SG Spanoulis/Navarro
SF Siskauskas/Kirilenko
PF Dirk/Bourousis
C Pau Gasol/Schortsanitis/Pekovic

Team USA would never know what hit them if they ran into that team.

Are you watching the ball anyway? Okur is not even close to top? Big Z is old and I understand his decline, but Okur is still one of the best centers...He's a starter on one of the best teams in the league and really contributing...Geez!

PG- Tony parker, Calderon, Teodosic
SG- Hedo, Navarro, Rudy
SF-AK47,Deng-Gallinari
PF-Dirk,Bargs,Ilyasova
C- Pau, Marc/Okur

For those who think the players, having never played the NBA ball yet , are better than those who has been playing in the best league and contributing...You must get some fresh air...

What makes Okur one of the best centers around? His tremendous shooting percentage, his terrific rebounding and shotblocking or his stiffling defense?

Are yu watching Utah? Okur has developed his weakest side, the defense, he's defending and blocking well this year...His shooting is also good and rebounding has always been very nice considering that he's playing alongside with AK47,Boozer,Millsap,Deron...

Lorbek is a better player than Ilyasova.
Lorbek is a better player than Bargnani
Marc is MUCH better player than Okur, who doesnt know what defence is..
Pekovič is better than Okur, 100%.
Lol at Hedo at SG :O
Siskauskas is definently a better player at SG..

If you never heard od European players, it doesnt mean they are bad..Also, Calderon is no way near being the 2nd best european playmaker..
Yes, some are contributing in NBA, but will never contribute in Europe and vice-versa.. Also, there are some teams in Europe, that would be playoff teams in nba 100%

You are a clear euro homer, and dont know a s...t about the NBA...Who is Lorbek? We will see him in NBA if he has guts to play here... I watch Marc against Okur at least 5 times and Okur outplayed him...If you say Okur doesnt play defense, you dont watch him, enough said. Watch some Jazz games, without playing defense, you cannot play in Sloan's team. But, I like Marc and he will be better...

Anyway, I dont lose time to argue with you, because you already proved you are away from basketball...

Take care homer

You are an average American fan, who only follows NBA and doesnt know anything about any league outside NBA.. How can you say that Bargnani and Ilyasova are better than Lorbek, if you havent seen him play..
He is hands down the best PF in Euroleague now.. He finished 2nd in MVP voting on European championships (Yes, only behind Pau), was a first all-eurochamps team.
He will most likely join NBA in 2011, when his contract with Barcelona is up..

You are far away of basketball, if you dont know who Lorbek is, nba homer..

While I agree that Lorbek is much better than Ilyasova and Bargnani, but I'm not sure if he is as good as Okur. You are really underrating Okur. Almost as extreme as how much you overrated the Adriatic League. Lorbek is a great player, but Okur is damn good also. In addition, Lorbek did not finish second in MVP voting at the EuroBasket.

It was announced as:

1. Pau

2. Teodosic

3. Spanoulis

4. Fernandez

5. Lorbek

But I agree totally that Lorbek is a great player. You can't pay attention to what most NBA fans say about European players because most of them are so deluded by NBA marketing and hype that they just can't be even the least bit objective. However that is no reason to underrate Okur like that.

Five best per position IMO:

Parker/Teodosic/Rubio/Papaloukas/Calderon or Diamantidis
Rudy/Siskauskas/Navarro/Spanoulis/Rakocevic
Turkoglu/Gallinari/Kleiza/Kirilenko/Batum
Nowitzki/Lorbek/Ilyasova/Bargnani/K.Lavrinovic or Velickovic/Reyes/Khryapa
Pau/Marc/Pekovic/Okur/Bouroussis or D.Lavrinovic

I agree. I think generally only Americans and Spaniards think he is among the best players in Europe. Americans because of all the hype in the US about him and because they think he must be the best due to being a #5 draft pick, and Spaniards because of obvious reasons.

Europeans that are not Spanish don't rate him that high. Sure there are a few, but I would consider them fan boys. Rubio is one of the best in his age group, top 2 probably, but as an overall player across all ages in Europe, he is definitely not among the best. His name should never even come up with these other players being discussed in this thread. Maybe in another 2 years, but not now.

I´ve seen almost every game of Barça this season (EL,ACB,Cup,Supercup) and in my opinion he is already that good and i´m not a Barcelona fan, trust me.
Rubio is not only an outstanding prospect, he has been the best point guard in the ACB so far and he´s sharing his spot with other two important players in Barcelona´s rotation.
