The usual C team excuse, we heard that way too much recently. USA doesn't produce elite big men anymore and that's their main issue. They can bring the A team (made of 35+ y.o.) as much as they want that won't solve their problems in the paint.

When I first saw the US lineup, I was very surprised that they didn't put anyone on the team who had FIBA experience.

Hard to say whether or not a veteran leader (someone like Jrue Holiday or Demar Derozan, who have been there before) would have made a difference in the tournament, but I'm sure that those kinds of questions will be asked now that the US won't be winning gold.

USA will probably always have a continuity problem. They can alleviate that with a talent gap many times. These players aren't bad at all. If they had more experience playing together where everyone knows and is secure in their roles and they have chemistry, they would be better.

Problem is that due to lack of experience together and experience in international basketball, USA will many times not be any better than the sum of their parts, sometimes not even as good as it, especially for single elimination where you don't get to recalculate and fix things, while the other teams will be better than just the names.

That's just the reality, and no one is likely willing to try to change that since the NBA is still their priority.

It's not a matter of A team or B team, they still had enough talent to win it all. But these players are tuned for a different kind of game, and as every single American on this board took turns to inform us, they don't care about FIBA. Well, they gotta find a reason to care or they will start losing consistently.

Edwards was an injury replacement so didn’t really make the original roster.

LOL!! After I seen US squad when it was announced, I honestly believed, that they will fail, but never imagined that it will be Germany, that will eliminate them and Lithuania whoop them as well.
Thought it will be Serbia or France. France not showed up and Serbia not got a chance.

bummed canada lost but obviously serbia earned it. still proud of the canadian team, qualifying for olympics and making a big step forward for the program. it would be nice if they beat the US for 3rd place but i'm happy as long as it's a competitive game.

The final should be a great game. Serbia is so well coached and tough, and Germany has probably been the most consistently good team all tournament.

should be an awesome game. i think serbia is going to win but it should be just a good basketball game with the way the teams play.
