Might be unpopular, but both games that I saw USA lose, it seems that Reaves was always being hunted. LIT punished him downlow and GER put a combo on him on skates and downlow..

US needs a coach that adapts to what he sees. Kerr thinking you can play small while getting abused on the glass, that only works when you have Curry

They don't have any sniper shooters on the roster in general, they didn't set up their roster that way. I'm generally a fan of either having a volume pick and pop big or an off ball sniper 3PT shooter who runs around just to always keep the defense on their toes and occupied.

Cam Johnson? Reaves, Hali, and Bridges all really good shooters too

But sht, even with the lack of size you can still play hard. Did anybody get that sense from us on the defensive end all game, except maybe the fourth? Hell, even then, we were getting down to crunch time and Bridges -- one of our best defenders -- wasn't even down in a proper stance to pressure the ball. Edwards got beat off the dribble a couple of times in critical situations. Reaves. Haliburton. Brunson got lit up all game. Jackson is supposed to be an elite weakside shot-blocker and he was in a haze all tournament.

Just not even close to the basic requisite effort in a semifinal game.

Good point, even with clear lack of size they still could implement full court pressure earlier, they have speed and agility. However USA did not even exploit clear BONUS advantage they had. I do not know did they listen to Kerr, I doubt.

Team USA must have obligatory height requirements from now on. None of that small ball bologna. 2x6'11+ , 2x6'8, 4x6'6 only 1 player under 6'1.

Well, they technically are teams that were just put together a few weeks ago, lol, and the guys generally didn't grow up playing together in multiple international competitions, etc.

It's the reality of the situation. They will have to continue out-talenting opponents, they aren't going to win the chemistry and experience battle. If they are going to try to at least be close there, they would have to make drastic changes to their international programs which would require finding some way to get their players to also commit to being around more often, and that is tough when NBA is what funds their massive wealth.

There was hunting of the bigs too, on switches, that led to uncontested threes after great ball movement.

Kerr is a great offensive coach but he failed to identify those on defense. (Or he did but was too proud to change anything when in fact he did not have very good defensive players)

The all-star game should be world vs USA at this point, at least I know the international guys will play hard.

Definitely need to add some youth to that. I think if you add Booker, Tatum, Brown, Edwards, Haliburton to that core, they should be fine. Would essentially be
Dame/Haliburton
Steph/Booker/Brown
Tatum/Edwards/Brown (brown would be getting minutes at sg and sf)
LBJ/KD
AD

This team loses on defense. Say what you want on offense and any mistakes or missed shots there, but we have lost because we can't defend. JJJ was terrible. 3 freaking rebounds and soft. Ant had 8, how is it even possible a 6'4" guard out rebounds JJJ/DPOY?

Team defense was lacking large.

True. They were also hunting whoever haliburton was guarding in the paint. They also looked for obst a lot who was being guarded by brunson. Team USA had all kids of flaws o defense. You don't drop 110 points in FIBA by hunting oe player on D

USA shot 59/48 and you're talking about a small offensive based player being in to change the outcome, really? Come on guys lol. I know people ignore defense and rebounding a lot, but can't be ignored this wildly.

Why you quoting me? It was a joke lol.

Montenegro showed it first, Lithuanian managed to successfully abuse it, Italy didn't have personnel for it, and Germany abused it again.
That's four games where Steve Kerr should have been able to see that switch-all defense doesn't work, and figure out a solution.
