Jokic? Giannis?

NBA players play more games, more minutes per game, in a shorter span of time and travel much more. They play in a more physically gifted league and at the highest level of the competition. They also earn a lot more money. It has nothing to do with entitlement.

Facts. In addition, FIBA players are eager to play against NBA guys, whereas the sentiment isn't reciprocated. I doubt Jokic wishes he had the opportunity to prove he's better than Thiemann.

It’s not. It’s 2027 in Qatar back to back with 2028 Olympics in LA.

NBA players will have the same problem and FIBA just might get Tier 2 players again.

I hate how some fans say Austin Reaves was carrying the team.

Dude is an awful defender and every single game teams when straight at him.

It was embarrassing to say the least.

Jokic just came off the back of a championship run with a shitton of games and winning finals MVP. Giannis was injured. I think both have pretty logical excuses unlike most of the team USA players that were no shows.

Oh yeah, LA... With the host qualifier, tier 3 probably gets sent next time :)

Yes that’s a strategy i see for the US. Send Tier 2/3 stars in World Cup and just get the Olympic gold. No pride i guess.

jpatrick wrote:We didn’t lose because of our offense, iso based or not. We lost because of defense and rebounding. How this team doesn’t have a 6’10”ish wing that can play defense and rebound to play PF if we want to play small is insane. Even someone like Jaden McDaniels would have helped. You can’t go solely with one real big, especially when that big is not a good rebounder.

We gave up 113 points in a 40 minute game. That’s lack of rebounding, lack of defensive size, and a defensive scheme that allowed Reaves and Brunson to get hunted over-and-over again.

I do agree with you. It was defense that cost US this game. But would there have been easy fix for rebounding or defensive issues? I'm not so sure.

That defensive scheme is very normal in NBA. Pretty much every team does that. In regular season and in playoffs. 3 first Lebron's championships was earned because his team hunted these weaker defenders. And every team time after time allowed them to do that. Lebron went through lot of NBA coaches and nobody found a way to stop him. So not sure is there any coach in NBA who could build any other kind defensive scheme.

Rebounding. American bigs are generally very bad at boxing out, so in long run they will lose rebounding battle. This doesn't matter in NBA cause no teams send their players to offensive glass, so playing in NBA doesn't make you any better on that matter. So getting some other big who doesn't box out doesn't help US in these tournaments. Only team I remember sending their players to offensive glass was Bucks and they won championship that year.

There are probably individuals who could fix those, but generally speaking those are weaknesses of every NBA team. But teams in NBA just doesn't want to take advantage of those or they don't have personnel to do that.

Its just delusional Lakers fans who are overhyping this average dude. He is not a star and he will never be. I get that he's a steal considering his background and he is playing on a good contract but he has no business playing on a USA team.

US was +4 with Reaves on court, he scored 21 and was able to assert himself with the flow of the offense, the game was lost in the Brunson minutes, and Bridges trying to create when he has no business creating.

Any player missing from team USA (and Canada) at most played ~10 less games than Jokic. Many of them have had surgery on the last year to two.

Congrats to Wagner/Schroder/Theis. They really put team USA to work and won a deserved victory.

Why not at least get Evan Mobley? Why the hell are we leaving a kid born and raised in California to sit at home while a rookie Kessler is the only true 5 on the roster?

Mobley won't be physically ready to bang with centers like the world has until 2028, he's like Jackson right now in that he's better off playing the 4 currently. Kerr did wrong with Kessler.

If anything, just bring Looney next time, or even your boy Mark Williams.

I had Serbia beating Canada(they were overrated...was rooting for them at the begginomg but then they started behaving like clowns, which should be bo wonder since they have Brooks)..Germany did amazing beating USA(thanks god...the way they behaved in QF)...In the final I think Serbia takes the GOLD...I think it's their turn and Germany probably had a tougher job in the semis

He didn't play Kessler, doubt he would play Mitch, Mark or Duren.

Looney would play because he can pass & switch, plus Kerr is already his coach.
