Where Did This Talk About Rubio Being 6'5" 1.96m Come From?

Post#1 » by Italia Raps Fan » Tue Apr 20, 2010 5:46 pm

I am wondering about this. I have seen on the Wolves board, the Raps board, the Blazers board, the Knicks board, that Ricky Rubio is 6'5" (1.96m). I wonder where this came from? Clearly to anyone that follows European basketball he is not 6'5" (1.96m).

He is about 6'3" (1.92m). Anyone that watches Euroleague and knows the heights and sizes of players knows that. So, since when did he become 6'5" (1.96m)?

It's the hype. On Barcelona's official page, he's listed at 189 cm:

OK. Yes, that height makes much more sense. Anyone who watches Euroleague games knows he is not close to being 6'5".

There's this tendency for people to try and portray Rubio as the next Jason Kidd that's why his height and defense are vastly exaggerated.

There's this tendency for people to try and portray Rubio as the next huge bust that's why his impact on the game, footspeed and defense are vastly underrated.

:)

God, you're such a hater.

I've never once said Rubio will be a bust, but as far as his footspeed goes in the open court the guy is GOOD but laterally he's average, the killer first-step isn't there either but that's not as big of a deal on offense given Rubio's craftiness with the basketball.

He's aprox 6'3" barefoot so around 6'4" with shoes.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

OP you make me laugh. You've got 24 posts and every single one of them is a knock on Rubio's game or height. I didn't count them but in one thread you mentioned this like 10x?? And then turn and open another thread on it? Wow.

P.S. you forgot to mention how you met him in person bla bla lmao.

So he´s a 6´4" when he steps in court right?

Before the draft he was in the states and was measured 6-5, but wingspan of only almost 6-8.

I guess he looks much smaller on court because plays very low most of the time.

I think it has something to do with his wingspan. Since he has long arms, most people think he's taller than his listed height.

Barcelona measured him at 6'2½" barefoot.

He's not 6'5". That report was obviously not legit.

The NBA measured Kidd at 6'2½" barefoot and that is also Rubio's barefoot height as Barcelona measured it. So without "exaggeration" he is the same height as Kidd. I was referring to the forum's exaggeration that he is 6'5".

Barcelona didn't measure him!!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: it's the same height he was listed in the ACB since he was 14.

I don't realy care what he true height is - It's not what will make him a better/worse player.
However, How do you know those reports are fault?? because you hate him and don't want to believe it?? how old are you anyway?

I know one thing for sure: when you watch him play you can't realy tell what his height is because he's always with his shoulders lowered.

Barcelona measures all their players barefoot to know their heights. They most certainly did measure him. Besides, European players that are 6'5" are always taller than him in games. He's not 6'5", that is some kind of a joke story that someone put out there. He's really no more than 6'3" and change in shoes to be honest about it.

I remember reading a few years back, that this 6'5 is a projected prediction from some technology, because he is likely to grow.

He's 1.92 (6' 3.6") w/o shoes.

So I don't find it that hard to beleive he's near 6' 5" with his shoes on.

Ricky is no more than 6-3 in shoes. Jennings is listed by NBA at 6-1, Rudy at 6-6, Navarro at 6-3. For sure Ricky is not 6-5.
