Hey all,

Was creating a chart of the top leagues in the world and would love your guys' opinion. My critera would have to be talent level, salary, and popularity.

1. NBA
2. Spanish ACB
3. HEBA A1, Greece
4. Lega Basket Serie A, Italy
5. CBA, China
6. Turkish Basketball League
7. French Pro A

I just have a few questions for you guys:

1. What other leagues am I missing that would go in the top 10?
2. Where does the D-league rank in comparison?
3. How would you divide these leagues if they were tiered? (ie/ Tier 1 - NBA, Tier 2 - Spain, Argentina, Tier 3 - Italy, Turkey, China)

If anyone also has any resources into this, that would be great.

Where would you fit in Isreal and Russia?

D League must be in the top three, and if you want to include NCAA D1 it would also be high up there. It is amazing to see how secondteir college players who are not drafted can dominate in these top overseas leagues

I will rank leagues in Europe because, since I don't know much about leagues from for example Brasil.

Tier 1 - Euroleague, Spanish League
Tier 2 - Russian League, VTB League (regional league with teams from Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Czech Republic, Belarus and Kazakhstan), Greece, Turkey, Italy, Eurocup, Adriatic League (regional league with teams from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, BiH, Montenegro, Macedonia and Hungary; last year Maccabi Tel Aviv also played),
Tier 3 - France, Germany, Belgium, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Israel
Tier 4 - Leagues from smaller countries and from countries with little or no basketball culture

I heard that teams from China have big budgets. But unless they are allowed to play with more than two foreign players at the same time I don't believe that this league is as good as tier 1 and tier 2 leagues from Europe.

Leagues inside the tiers are mentioned without particular order.

I'm guessing that that leagues from Brasil, Argentina (this opinion is based on their National Teams' success), Australia (they have a lot of American players) and possibly Puerto Rico (I know some good American players that played there) are also solid leagues.

French league is poor and Lithuanian is even worse

VTB...best league for sure....Imo, it's not domestic league but mix of clubs from Ruassia, Lithuania, poland etc. This season it has double couting for Russian clubs si it's two leagues in one

way above others

ABA...clubs from ex yugoslavia...you may count as domestic because clubs go trough that league to euro competitions

Greece..big drop in last few years

rest is way to bad

and add...all of those are better then china league
