Pretty cool that a good college program gets to face a National team.

Germany and France was a close one! I didn't see the game.. Batum and parker struggled it looks like..

Datome and Bargnani did not play. Galinari played 4:21 only. Obviously none of them were needed. Italy was basically just cruising the game, and then at the end of the game decided it was time to end it and stop being friendly if you will.

Here is the box score - http://www.fibalivestats.com/u/FIP/138946/

Also, Russia beat Michigan State 93 to 75. This is Russia basically playing without their best players, except for like 4-5 of them. The rest of those players would not normally be in a typical Russian selection, but they are a lot weaker than normal this year. And none of their NBA players are playing. Anyway, it did not matter, as you could see, Russia was leading 32-13 after the first quarter.

Only the biggest morons believe that, they don't even worth acknowledgement.

If I am not mistaken, this is not the first time Italy played NCAA team. I think 4 years ago they played BYU, and Bargnani grabbed like 20 rebounds against them :D

But do you remember that thread I made in the general forum about how ESPN was writing articles and saying on TV that NCAA was higher level than Spanish League, Eurocup, and even Euroleague?

viewtopic.php?t=1393892

And not just that, but there were people arguing in the thread, and quite aggressively also, that it was true. And were actually even taking it further than what ESPN was saying. And also, that Coach Nick guy from YouTube has made a bunch of videos on YouTube where he has claimed that average mid major NCAA teams could beat the teams in the Euroleague finals. He basically has been saying that for the last few years, and somehow he has been given legit status by US sports media.

So I think there is a definite large amount of people by percentage in both US/Canada sports fans and sports media that believes this very strongly to be true.

Just read that thread, people are arguing very aggressively that Kentucky would win Eurocup, Spanish League, even Euroleague, and can beat international national teams and win things like EuroBasket, World Cup, the Olympics.

Does anyone know if it is OK to bump that thread now with these box scores? Or is too old? I think that a lot of those comments in that thread, and also ESPN should see it. Some of the comments were basically saying anyone that didn't believe NCAA teams can beat the European teams is crazy or whatever.

We should see the reactions in that thread now on the general forum.

oh, dont remind me... One guy in particular i remember, selfishplayer is his name, was convinced d league is the second strongest league in the world and that d league teams would absolutely dominate Euroleague and ACB... Till this day i dont know if he was that dumb or that hes just a master troll. I say those guys are not worth time, but I myself always get caught arguing with them...

2015 Eurobasket

Germany actually has the most talented squad that Dirk ever got to play with (if not for injuries).

Hope they qualify for the Olympics, even if the team depth this year is depleted due to injuries.

The roster for the Eurobasket:

PG
Schröder (22) - NBA starting caliber
Schaffartzik - Euro league caliber

SG
Gavel - Euro League caliber
Lo (22) - very good college player with outside shot at NBA
Tadda - role player

SF
Zipser (21) - NBA 3&D talent
Giffey (24) - can still be a fringe NBA role player in my opinion
Benzing - offensive role player

PF
Dirk - still All-Star caliber
King- role player

C
Pleiß (25) - NBA backup center
Voigtmann (22) - young role player

Now players missing:

PF: Kleber (23) - good euro league caliber

PF/C: Theis (23) - good euro league caliber

C: Ohlbrecht (27) - euro league caliber, fringe NBA player

SF/PF: Harris (26) - euro league caliber, fringe NBA player

Not going to list the likes of Zirbes, Staiger and co.

-3 sure NBA players
-5 other guys (Giffey, Zipser, Lo, Kleber and Theis) that could maybe make an NBA roster in my opinion
- 2 fringe NBA players in Harris and Ohlbrecht
- good at the European level,
Schaffartzik, Gavel and Benzing (if he gets his act together 1 out of 10 games)

Good core of young and talented players.
All are around 21-25 mostly, so it is really going to be exciting to see them develop.

Could roll out a roster at the Olympics 2016 of:

C: Pleiß, Theis, Ohlbrecht
PF: Dirk, Kleber, Harris
SF: Giffey, Zipser
SG: Gavel, Lo
PG: Schröder, Schaffartzik

With guys like Voigtmann, Staiger, Zirbes (who I don't like), Brembly and Benzing replacing an injured guy.

Really like the outlook the Germans have after Dirk, it's much better than anything Dirk dealt with in the last years.

And then there will be the generation of U18 guys coming along now with:

- a potential Top10 pick in SF/PF Hartenstein (17)

- potential first rounder in wing Freudenberg (17)

- potential lottery pick in SG Mushidi (17)

- potential 2nd round pick in C Kratzer (18)

- potential first round pick in PF Kiel (17)

- other young talents like Wimberg (19), Schilling (19), Mayr (20), Herkenhoff (16) and Bonga (16)

Thoughts on Germany this Euro and in the upcoming years?
