Zalgiris playing great, Jokubaitis emerging as key contributor and maybe even a star. Lithuanian backour of Grigonis, Lekavicius and Jokubaitis is dope offensively, such a great start to a season. That said, losing so many players to Covid and stuff, it cheapens the wins I got to say.

About some non Zalgiris news, Dragan Bender, man is he still terrible, 3-4 years in the NBA, still unplayble in Euroleague and I totally saw this coming ha. Tavares still sucks too :D Campazzo has been very disappointing as well I would say. Giedraitis is playing himself into NBA radar, its been a long time since Lithuania had so much offensive talent on the perimeter.

So far, Sloukas has the second worst contract in EuroLeague history, after Josh Childress. What the hell was Olympiacos thinking? Did they not see how bad he was last season?

Louvergne in Fenerbache was probably one of the worst contracts, he was paid like a top 5 player in Euroleague straight out of moderate NBA success but he was barely decent as a backup.

And I dont know how much Maccabi pays to Dragan Bender, but if its more than 7days baguette they get for free, its probably the worst contract.

Olympiakos is just way worse team than it was, no inspiration building that roster, Sloukas is doing fine considering he doesnt have very good teammates to back it up.

Also, dont forget that Kosta Koufos contract last year  You are once again greatly exaggerating, Sloukas and Childress are fine.

Sloukas so far =

36.0 FG%
34.6 2PT%
37.5 3PT%

7.7 points
1.3 rebounds
5.6 assists (his only good contribution)

0.6 steals
2.4 turnovers

He is also the worst defender in the EuroLeague at the guard positions. And while his assists are good, it's almost all from pick and roll, as he has very little ability to create on his own. And some of his turnovers - my god, he's just handing it to the other team. I've never seen a lead guard in EuroLeague that is so careless with the basketball. Never.

His defense is so damn bad, that Bartzokas keeps making Spanoulis finish all the games, playing almost the whole 4th quarter of every game, because Sloukas can't be on the floor at any important time of the game, due to his absurdly bad defense. Spanoulis isn't even supposed to be playing until March after his his foot surgeries......at times he looks like he's limping around. Bartzokas is going to blow his foot out again, making him play nearly the whole 4th quarters of games, months before he was even supposed to be fully healed. Bartzokas is doing it though, because Sloukas is so downright awful on defense.

Now that Jimmer is back in China, no one at the guard spots plays defense as bad as Sloukas. He gets like 1 to 2 stops on defense a game, and the rest of the time he just gets torched.

And then there is Sloukas' shot selection and decision making, which is truly awful. He also can't run a team, as he has no ability to properly run an offense or control the tempo and rhythm of a game. Although that last part isn't his fault, because he's a shooting guard that Bartzokas is forcing to play point guard. That's on Bartzokas.

Sloukas was really bad last season with Fener, he was probably their worst main rotation player, and was the cause of so many of their losses. And now he's just flat out terrible this season, he's actually somehow managed to get worse.

And he's getting paid €5.5 million euros net income. That's like $13 million in NBA money. That's an insanely bad contract.

If you think Sloukas is "doing fine", then 100% for sure you have not watched an Olympiacos game. So far that is an absolute disaster signing. If he's going to play like he is, he better not be anywhere near the Greek NT training camp.

I don't know what happened to him, but maybe he's one of those small guards that can't play once they get around age 30. There have always been those types of guys that are 6-3 and under, that once they get around age 29 or 30, they simply can no longer play anymore.

So far he is not hitting his shots, but its not like he looked like a stiff. But he is number one guy in OLY now and opponents prep for him first and foremost, and maybe hes just not good enough for that, Olympiacos struck gold with Spanoulis a decade ago, but Sloukas is no Spanoulis, you need several players who can create offense, you cant have one offensive weapon and then just defensive players, unless that offensive weapon is prime Spanoulis I guess. Look at top teams now, Barca has several perimeter guys who can create at any given time, Efes has Micic, Larkin, and SImon, Beoubous are good heat check guys, and even Zalgiris has Girgonis, and Lekavicius and Walkup.

I don't know why he is getting such big contracts. I get that he was an NBA starter for a long time, but that does not change the fact that he can't play defense past 6 feet from the basket.

People are always hating on Papagiannis' perimeter D, and he's like 10 times better at that than Monroe is.
