Will Bynum Arrested In Israel

Will Bynum, a former Georgia Tech basketball player now playing in Israel, was arrested Saturday and accused of running over a man after leaving a nightclub brawl.

The injured man, a disc jockey at the club, was in serious but stable condition, the Haaretz newspaper reported. Bynum had a hearing in Tel Aviv and was to remain in custody until Sunday, the Maariv newspaper reported.

Bynum plays for Israeli champion Maccabi Tel Aviv. A group of basketball players were at a Tel Aviv nightclub when they became involved in a fight, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said. [READ]

Talked to my guy in Israel. Altercation started over a girl in the club. Vonteego Cummings, Bynum, and his brother were out for Bynum's birthday. Altercation moved to the parking lot, and it's anyone's guess what happened from there. At some point, Bynum got into his car (the windows in his car had been smashed in during the altercation), drove off, and hit somebody while leaving. Hit and run carries a 3 to 20 year prision term in Israel.

Word is there is a second investigation into the people who went after him and his brother. I don't think it's certain he'll be in jail. I'm pretty sure he was already released.
