Since being drafted by the Spurs, I have seen almost no news about the guy. How has he been playing this year? Do people still think he will be a good NBA player?

Havent seen him play at all this year but I can give you statistics and some news...
Splitter is averaging 16 points and 6 boards in Euroleague competition while over in the ACB I believe he is ranked something like 5th in scoring averaging around 18ish points. You can check properly on acb.com, the statistics are somewhere on the left in Spanish.

^ Thanks, sounds like he is playing well. Is it a lock that the Spurs bring him over or are there still some issues?

so far, its pretty much a lock. the spurs have been talking about bring him over next year. i dont see this changing because the spurs have elson expiring and they'll need another young big man to come into play.

I doubt that. Spurs are notoriously cheap. They were bringing Scola for three or four years and finally traded for some cash...

haha, scola had a high buyout so the spurs couldnt bring him over. under the CBA rules of the nba, a team can only provide 300,000$ in a buyout. scolas buyout was 10+ million which would make bringing scola impossible wouldnt it? also scolas game is similar to duncans, but who do you think they'll run the play for? euroleague mvp or the nba mvp?
splitter will be signed to a rookie contract and his buyout expires next season. that is why its a lock.

Scola's buyout was not 10 Million.. Thats ridiculous. Spurs just didn't want to pay him or Jackie Butler.

no its not, just do some research. it was around 2005 when reports surfaced of him coming over but could not because of a high buyout. that was when his buyout was at an all time high.

Splliter will play for the Spurs next season, he already went to San Antonio looking for a place to live and now is practicing with Brazilian NT to try a spot in the Olympic Games.

He's certainly not practicing with the Brazilian national team. He's playing in the ACB League playoffs with Tau Vitoria, which today qualified for the finals by beating Unicaja M

Splitter has played extremely well this year- looking like a new star big man in European basketball. His steady improvement and consistency is really going to make him an asset for the Spurs. Duncan and Splitter is a scary combination.

Splitter is reported to be on the verge of extending his contract with Tau Vitoria for one more season.
He's playing right now in the opening game of the ACB playoffs, BTW, with Tau romping on Barcelona's home court (46-32 at halftime).

According to this site, his agent Marcello Maffia said Splitter was offered a great contract in euro, tax free. Something like US$ 6 ~ 9,6 million a year, during 3 years, Not to mention he is comfortable with the team and all the situation. It's a hard decision.

Yeah, I can say that Splitter is right now the best brazilian basketball player (and that includes NenĂª and Leandrinho).
